Joaquín kisses his teeth, placing his pen down on the table. “Simp.”

Daisy pulls away, tilts her head down the slightest bit to meet his gaze. Her eyes are bright, face sweaty, crown slightly askew in her kinky hair, and his heart sighs.
“Told ya we’d win, huh!” She says. “Didn’t doubt us for a minute! ‘Specially when I had the Mushroom Dyna-light of my life cheerin’ me on!”
Luigi thinks he might make a formal request to change his Baller Name. This one sounds miles better than his old one.

Instead, he considers his small family; just Momma, Uncle Donell, and his Pokémon. He’s totally envious of Leon’s large extended family, wishes he knew what it felt like to even have a sibling.
But Leon’s got a completely different outlook on it all, easily summed up his feelings when Raihan asked him about all of the people in a photo on his mantel. So many folks crammed in, all sporting grins, and Raihan could easily pick out baby Hop and young Leon. The only two, other than their mom, with purple hair.
“They get on my damn nerves,” Leon had said and stalked off with a sour look, lip curled up like he smelled something stank.
And Raihan never asked again after getting such a foul answer.
