(Un-)Fortunately, Sonic has the time show him around the place, which turns out to be a bigger help than Shadow would've ever thought. Now if only that didn't also make it harder for the hybrid to keep up his prickly walls that he's set up ever since that one fateful encounter with Sonic on the lily field...

Tenna suddenly encounters a small malfunction that he is forced to ignore. It doesn't interfere much or make him malfunction, causing no immediate need for help, so he just continues the show with a big smile.This is more exhausting than he thought, so after the show he rushes to the dressing room, quickly calls his mechanic - and here's the problem! They will only be able to visit him in two days. His closest partner, Spamton, being closely associated with cars by profession, including their maintenance and repair, since he had very little money, can safely compare himself with mechanics. And, seeing the suffering mood of his colleague, he offers him a helping hand. This interaction leads both to interesting thoughts.

When Pure Vanilla throws open the balcony doors and holds his staff aloft, the first thing he sees are the tree’s branches devoid of his feathered friends. It’s an unwelcome sight, a clear departure from their usual routine. Had something happened? Has someone drawn them away?
A flutter of movement draws his eyes upwards towards the roof; instantly, relief floods through Pure Vanilla’s jam. The flock is mercifully still here, perched above his head on a nearby rooftop. They are, however, strangely silent and still, huddled closely together while glancing between Pure Vanilla and the tree. Pure Vanilla follows their nervous gaze, peering into the branches as he holds his staff high –
Only to spy a long, lithe form curled in the shadows.

Summary
Three brush strokes to the right. Two to the left. A hand smoothing over his forehead, sweeping his bangs aside.
Shadow Milk knows the pattern well. His hair is always brushed the same way, in movements that seem almost robotic in how perfectly they’ve mastered the repetition. The bristles of the brush always skim over his closed eyes with such care, nimbly avoiding anywhere they might prick or poke. It always ends with a few final touches, tucking any stray wisps back into place before the brush is set back down on the dresser before him.
Pure Vanilla’s hands smooth through Shadow Milk’s hair, coming to rest gently on his shoulders.
“There. Ready for the day?”
Shadow Milk does not answer.
Shadow Milk has not answered in a long, long time.

It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.
It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.
With one sweep of his cane, Shadow Milk tears it apart.
