    Inko wakes up a few times with hazy nightmares of bruises and grinding bones. Hisashi sleeps soundly. She stares at the wall and thinks of the child she’s still keeping a secret, thinks about their future with a trapped mother and a father who wouldn’t think twice about ending a life. Her friends have disappeared. The boy who'd flirted with her is dead. Hisashi's right in the middle of it, with that smile that says he'd do it all again in a heartbeat.

    She can’t let her baby end up like that. She can’t watch an innocent mind be warped into the person that Hisashi must be. It’ll be hard, raising a kid on her own. She hasn’t even gone to a doctor yet to make sure her pregnancy’s going okay. “Either I give up everything I have,” she says, hand resting on her belly. “Or I let Hisashi ruin my baby forever.”

    (The choice is easy, in the end. She picks her child.)

    she does NOT successfully get away from AfO. Like she does for a few years but he finds her again, dusmembers her new boyfriend in her living room, and they negotiate a sham marriage for izuku's sake.

    *Really solid* dimension travel fic. I always love seeing a character build a *life* step by step, and this has a lot of thought and just, idk, solidness to it. The OCs all feel very real, people with their own lives going on, who build relationships and make such a meaningful impact on our main characters. IDK it's just really interesting.

    I wasn't into Batfam at all before I tried this fic on a whim and now I'm VERY SOLD.

    ALSO CW -- I would have marked this story F/M rather than Gen, and had tags for pregnancy/childbirth/some medical complications. No more graphic than the other (earlier) injury/illness story beats, it just blindsided me b/c it's not in the tags at all.

    His hair is a shock of gray, his glasses cracked. He's wearing a rumpled combination of tattered trench coat and red sweater that looks entirely ridiculous in an Oregon summer. He's looking at Stan with a look of distant confusion that makes him look, for one strange moment, like an overgrown owl.

    Stan can't breathe.

    "Ford?"

    HAHAHA omg confusing but it all makes sense

    My notes contain SPOILERS for the fic

    Basically, Stan immediately post-weidmaggedon gets sent (~somehow~) to a "dimension" that's only up to the s1 finale. Sounds more like time-travel tbh. But anyways bc he's still wearing ford's clothes, s1!Stan assumes that he *is* Ford, and that's enough cue for still-amnesiac s2!Stan to latch onto his whole fake Ford persona, including a lot of anger and loathing for himself that he's projected onto Ford over the years.

    It doesn't get cleared up until s2!Ford&Dipp&Mabel follow and retrieve him. Then there's a cathartic convo in which (s2!)Ford convince (s2!)Stan that he IS worth something and Ford still loves him. S1!Stan eavesdropping on the whole convo ofc

    Okay on re-reading the first chapter is so brilliant. You notice how s2! Stan only accuses s1!Stan of things Stan was aware of before from Ford returned... it's all stuff he thought in the thirty years before canon, none of the stuff Ford actually said to him when he got back. And he immediately responds positively to Mabel, calls her "pumpkin"

    One moment the man was up, and then, the next second, he had gracefully jumped from the wall in front of Wei Ying, who, only by the strength of his will, did not scream in alarm.

    He did yelp a little. But very manfully.

    “No entry after sunset,” said the man, and his voice was deeper than Wei Ying could’ve guessed. “How did you get past the wards?”
