“Dar?” Soda said. “Something wrong?”
I looked down at the thing Darry was looking at and my heart dropped. I knew what it was exactly.
“Why are you reading that?” I said. I kind of yelled it I guess. I dunno why. Something in my chest felt wrong and it felt easier to yell. It didn’t feel good though, not when Darry’s face twisted a little more and he pushed away the papers.
“I’m sorry Ponyboy, it was laying out and— and it had that stamp,” his voice trailed off and got quiet. Darry didn’t get quiet most of the time, especially not when he was upset about something. He got loud usually. Not quiet.
Or: what happens if Darry reads The Outsiders (including all the things Pony said about him) and Soda finally admits you can’t always smile through life.

"are you sure?", darry- asked in a tone that pony took as condescension- I mean he had stayed up the last three nights to write this damn thing! "yeah I'm sure- I don't forget easily Darry." Pony snipped back, already going upstairs to get it right as Darry was going to ask him to grab it. he later went back downstairs and set down his note book
"so which page is it on?" Darryl asked confused why pony didn't turn to the page he wrote the 'small' essay on. "its the whole thing..?" pony replied sheepishly, causing Darry the give him a ' what the fuck' look "this whole notebook...?' Pony nodded "pony this notebook has 200 hundred pages!" Darryl picked the the composition notebook sized book "pony don't tell me you filled this entire fucking thing..."

Ponyboy Curtis was going to murder Two-Bit Mathews. It would be slow and painful—he’d have to start by ripping his fingernails off one by one, or maybe he’d start by the current realization that he needs to cut back on scary movies. Either way, his cheer practice had just ended and he was supposed to be cleaning up in the boys bathroom. He thanked the heavens it was just a single person bathroom, because the lipstick sitting on top of the rest of his items was going to make him pop a blood vessel. He shoved it to the bottom of the bag and put on his day clothes. He just hoped it hadn’t gotten damaged.
OR: A single prank leads to a whole lot of feelings, bullying, and a bit of an identity crisis for Ponyboy. Also, Curly’s trying really hard to focus on the task at hand, with varying success.
