Summary
Mike is burning up, inside and out.
Externally, there’s a bubbling burn wound carved across his shoulder— but, to be honest, a simple injury is the least of his worries. He’s more concerned with the aggravating, endlessly-perplexing internal dilemma that’s been plaguing his mind for God knows how long; why is he completely incapable of acting normal around Will?
Every time he sees Will— or even dares to look him in the eye— Mike feels this sort of fire burning deep in his chest, hot and all-consuming and completely inexplicable. And, no matter how hard he tries, Mike just can’t figure it out;
What is wrong with him?

There’s something wrong with Will.
It started three weeks ago, almost four. Will had woken from some sort of nightmare and, instead of seeking comfort in Mike the way he usually would, he’d rolled out a sleeping bag from the closet and chosen to sleep on the floor.
No one believes Mike, except for Joyce. But even she doesn’t understand the full extent to which something is wrong with Will.
Mike understands, though. Mike has been paying attention.

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Owen just looks at him, with dark eyes, and the stake sinks through his chest.

“Because I-“ Avid cuts himself off, tense as a bow string. He trembles, sharp nails digging into his palms as he bites back everything he could say.

“It’s so funny that you went with a vampire costume,” Avid replied. He went ahead and let himself into the house, a habit after so long of visiting. Shelby didn’t even notice the intrusion, content to shut and lock the door behind him. “You look great. Very sophisticated and intimidating.”
“Isn’t it the coolest?” Shelby brightened, giving a little twirl. “I had the contacts and the wig from a while back, but Scott helped me pick out my actual outfit a few hours ago.”
Avid froze.
“Oh?” His voice came out hoarse and barely audible. “Really? Scott helped you?”

Propped up against the bus stop, Legs grabbed his thermos from his bag, he twisted the lid off and took a few sips of the drink. It slid down his throat, warming him ever so slightly. Legs always disliked how quickly the taste of blood had become appealing. It used to bring back horrid memories, the smell itself would throw the doctor back to his war days. Now, it was too sweet. It tasted too good, especially when warm. It was upsetting.
Most of this was upsetting.

Summary
Unsurprisingly, the bat that transforms is Pyro.
And Scott briefly wonders why he knew that just from the bat form, seeing as most bats are identical, especially for the newly turned. The only things that really differentiate vampires in their bat form are very small things like how they fly.
He must be spending too much time around the coven. He’s starting to pick up on irrelevant mannerisms.
In other words, Scott and Pyro desecrate a beacon alone together, I’m sure there's no thousands of years old repressed vampire feelings of fondness that said vampire wants to ignore having.
In other other words, Scott has to realize he is the fakest idgafer in all of Oakhurst.

“I follow no sire,” Owen had said, the venom in his voice before wasn’t out of anger from the conversation, it was more akin to something like mourning, Legundo realized far too late.
