Her wings trembled. “Shit,” she whispered to herself. She began pacing in front of the portal. She dragged a hand through her hair, braiding and rebraiding it in a self-soothing manner she thought she had grown out of.
What was the worst that could happen?
My only friends who I can’t bear to lose completely disown me for lying to them again.
Her heart rate spiked. She let out a warbling chirp. With a snarl she forced it down her throat again.
She just had to get this over with.
Or, Purple finally reveals to the Color Gang that she's an avian.

The wings were a physical change. That, Purple could handle. It was the mental changes that she hated.
Because it was downright terrifying that she couldn't remember how the hell she'd gotten into this situation.
When Blue woke up, it was to the sound of yelling, and Yellow shaking his shoulder and chirping frantically.
"Alright, alright, give me a second, Yell…" Blue yawned and stretched. Nearly every bone in their back cracked in response. "I just woke up. What's wrong?"
If Purple was going to be away for a while, she'd often leave a note saying so. The Dark Lord visited enough that she found it necessary.
So, when he opened the door and only knocked after, calling out "Knock knock" loud enough to be heard from her bedroom, something caught in his throat when the thing that responded to him was a high-pitched chirp.
There were very few things that could make Orange feel so on-edge if he and his friends weren't in danger.
Apparently, a nestling going missing was one of them.

Purple had only taken off her elytra for a few days. Just a few days.
But her back itched.
Mango Orange was almost 40 years old and very knowledgeable, but even he could not tell you why he found a trail of dusty feathers in his living room at 7 A.M.
An hour, two cups of coffee, and a relatively okay breakfast later, he was finally ready to investigate it.
Green opened the trapdoor and called out with one long clarinet note.
... He didn't get a response. They called again, verging a few steps into the house proper. This time, a noise in the silence of the rooms.

Or: What happens when you come to rely on something with otherworldly origins too much, and it decides its code would be much better off merged with yours. After all, it was once living as well, and if you use it so much, surely having it as a permanent fixture in your life would be more of a boon than a curse.
It's only a shame that the process is so painful.
(Maybe less of a shame that the people around you love you enough to help, though.)

For them, love has always been a shifting thing, warm one moment, unreachable the next. It’s music and pain, laughter and loss, bruises and lullabies. It’s all the ways someone can try to understand what it means to be loved… and still not quite get it right.
This story follows Purple’s journey through different kinds of love told through shifting pronouns, shifting worlds, and shifting selves. From a child who once watched a concert with wonder, to a fighter chasing their father’s approval, to a king who traded companionship for control, to a wanderer learning what love actually feels like, this is Purple, trying. Always trying.
And yeah, this was supposed to be a King Purple fic at first. But then I blinked and accidentally wrote a character study instead, sprinkled with self-indulgence and headcanons because apparently I was starved for Purple content and decided to fix that myself. Anyways this whole fic is based on a Purple Analysis on Youtube.
