Summary
6 stories on the basis that Kaz and Rojakke used to date (for abt six months), and Rojakke was an abusive piece of shit almost the entire time. Kaz and Nikolai start dating at the end of the 1st story. There should be references of where each story is on the timeline in each, but it should go like this:
1: the day Kaz and Rojakke officially break up/the day Kaz and Nikolai officially get together
2: about 3 weeks after Kaz and Rojakke break up/Kaz and Nikolai get together
3 & 4: about 3 months after Kaz and Rojakke break up/Kaz and Nikolai get together

Edward Elric is a boy who knows a little bit about everything. He dabbles in a wide assortment of hobbies and skills, regardless of how niche or outdated they may be. Some days he’s himself; other days the kid stares off into space, zoned out so severely that it takes hours to snap him out of it.
Roy always thought it strange. But teenagers are strange, aren’t they? Being a prodigy of alchemy doesn’t make Edward an exception.
But it’s not that simple.
On the brink of death, Roy is saved by his subordinate from what should have been a fatal wound, and in the process begins to understand.

Edward WISHED he could remember what had happened to them. The last clear memory he had was of him trudging after Mustang as he strode into their shared hotel room, documents in hand and trying to tempt Edward with the idea of a spaghetti dinner at the nearby dinner with the promise of letting him have whatever dessert he wanted when his memory grew hazy, like a dream he was trying too hard to remember.
Mustang was still breathing, deep, regular breaths, which was the only solace that Edward could take that he wasn’t near death because he wouldn’t freaking wake up. He really hoped that whatever they had been given, liquid or otherwise, wasn’t fatal, because with his automail out of commission, Edward depended on the bastard to escape their makeshift prison.
And maybe because he was just a little bit worried about him. Just a little. The tiniest, smallest amount of worry.

Nicky reaches for him 20 minutes into the drive, hand finally steady enough to grasp his over the gear shift. It’s comforting in the way it’ll always be, but Joe can’t look at him just then, can’t let those knowing eyes draw out the frustrated tears he’s trying to keep in, the images of bodies falling flashing rapidly behind his eyelids each time he blinks, the numb tension strangling him from inside his throat.
But he’s the one in the driver’s seat, which means he’s the one who has to keep it together (for now).
So he squeezes Nicky’s hand, and then gently lifts it to motion for him to turn on the radio.
Or: Joe is exhausted, and Nicky is there to take care of him.
