Clark settles against the pillow, closing his eyes and listening for Bruce’s heartbeat.
Ba-thump-ba-thump-ba-thump
Clark’s eyes fly open.
Bruce’s heartbeat is way too fast, even for the physical exertion of fighting. He bolts up in bed, calculating how to get someone to watch Conner at this time of night, then unfiltering his hearing so he can get a good idea where Bruce-!
“Ah…”
Clark freezes, heat rushing up to his face.
That… didn’t sound like a pained moan.
---------------------After their date night is interrupted, Clark overhears Bruce taking a moment to himself. It all works out in the end.

His body lit up like a flame set on high every time, his insides transforming to liquid gold that pooled low, low, low, his heart thudding lightning-quick and purposeful against his ribs.

Clark wants to take Bruce home for the holidays to meet his parents. They visit a bar Clark used to frequent in college where Bruce learns something new about the boyscout. Mechanical bull riding and a flirtatious bartender do not make for a good mix. Bruce didn't think he was the jealous type... until he is.

Bruce smirks, “I don’t know what you and that country boy got up to in here…” He walks his fingers up to grip his chin harshly. “But I can promise I’ll treat you so much better you’ll forget every bit of it.”
Eidetic memory be damned.
There are stars in Clark’s eyes when he swallows, submission in the soft and dazed nod he responds with.
“Good boy,” and Clark preens at the praise. “You’re going to take what I give you and be grateful for it.” Bruce’s voice is heavy with desire. He maintains eye contact as he slides down that impossibly muscular body to situate between Clark’s thighs.

Now they are taking the leap for real, but it's hardly smooth sailing. Between supervillain plots, revenge, and parent-teacher conferences, the World's Finest heroes may not be up for their most challenging fight yet.

“I feel awful,” Dick croaked.
“I know,” Wally said, carefully running his fingers through Dick’s hair, “I’m sorry,”
Dick was just so fucking tired.

Clark shakes his head with a small smile. “Alright you two,” He cuts them off before an argument can start. “Not that I’m against you two being here, but is there a reason you’ve been hanging out in my apartment for two days?”
That seems to get their attention because they glance at each other in a way that makes Clark a little worried. “Well B isn’t doing too great. We were hoping you would be able to come and help him.”
Worry instantly shoots through him and his scent must show that because they both now look at him with worried faces. “What’s wrong with Bruce?”
Or, Bruce works himself into a stress heat and Clark has to come and save the day.
