Caleb feels ice flow through his veins.
They could reject the invitation. They could then be thrown out of the Dynasty, or worse. They can’t afford that. They barely managed to make it here. They finally have a safe space here. They can’t… he can’t ruin it.
Caleb has been through this before. He can survive it again.
Jester is saying something, but Caleb strides out and cuts her off.
“I will volunteer.”

He hasn’t moved to go, in spite of his apologies. Fearne nudges her hips forward, knocking another little sound from Ashton.
“You wanna stay?”

“You died,” he says flatly, and maybe it’s not a fair time to get into this, what with Zoro being drugged and having nightmares and clearly unwell, but that’s kind of the point. “Your heart stopped at least twice. We thought you weren’t going to make it.”
Zoro, if he’s absorbing any of this at all, doesn’t react much. But he is making eye contact now.
“You’re not fucking fine.” Sanji pulls out a cigarette and slips it into his mouth but doesn’t light it. “I’m getting Chopper. Don’t move.”
