Summary
"That's a terrible idea." Even to his own ears, his protest doesn't sound very convincing.
Blair merely raises an eyebrow. "You keep saying that, but frankly, with your track record, I don't see why anyone should ever listen to your opinion about relationships."
(Or: the one where Dan recovers from his divorce, accidentally finds himself in a relationship with two of his best friends, and overcomes his writer's block. Getting his life sorted out is a work in progress, but he's getting there.)

Summary
Fitz was patient with me. Gruff, but always agonizingly patient. He bundled me into a blanket and sat me before his hearth, shut the window, and shoved the bloody cloak into a corner where I couldn't see it any longer. Then he sat down behind me and pulled me roughly into his arms. I went, angry at myself for going so easily. For always caving so immediately to him, this man who gave so much to me, while always holding so much back.
It didn't matter. His arms were the only thing that chased the chill away, so slowly, I let him warm me. We sat without speaking, my back pressed to his chest, his chin hooked over my shoulder, my smooth cheek pressed against his ever-so-faintly whiskered one. It was a peace entirely unendurable. Silently, we both endured it.
Amidst the trappings of a foreign celebration, in a land that is not his own, a White Prophet learns to live again, and his Catalyst offer shelter from the cold.

Summary
I was too occupied with my own pain to see what the other people did. My body was relocated elsewhere. Someone covered my father’s corpse with canvas. Per was off somewhere else. I think I heard him crying.
Spark was sitting next to Beloved who had yet to leave my father’s shape. Ant was speaking to them. I almost forgot that we had no idea where Lant was.
Dawn came and day began. The Vivacia arrived.
OR
The Fool went back for Fitz. He could not leave him there, left alone to rot in a dark collapsed tunnel. He caught the tide and got his body out to take back home to the Duchies. It resulted in a very different outcome than what could have been. Because Fitz never died in that tunnel.

Summary
“All by yourself?” Morgana asks when he steps into the clearing of trees, her face almost beautiful in the silvery moonlight. The air feels sacred, like holy ground. Blood should not be shed in such a place, but they’re both beyond the point where things such as holiness have any effect on them. "Where is your shadow?"
“You asked me to come alone,” Arthur answers truthfully, sword up. They circle each other like carrion birds, both waiting to swoop in for the kill. This will end tonight. It has to. Neither of them can afford otherwise.

Summary
Merlin acts theatrically affronted at that, gesturing to Arthur with a disordered movement of his hand. “This is the worst profession of love ever. Gwaine, at least, waxes poetry at me every chance he gets.”
“I am not professing my love for you, you idiot. We need to find the sorcerer that did this to me,” Arthur explains exaggeratedly, as though that might help Merlin and his slow brain keep up. Then his own enchantment-addled mind catches onto what Merlin has just said. “Gwaine recites you poetry?”

Summary
Yuletide in Camelot was a complicated thing.
Merlin had grown up with simple winter traditions: small gifts left on windowsills, bread shared between neighbours, his mother humming old songs while the snow piled against the door. Ealdor’s winter had been cold, yes, but it had been kind — a quiet, honest cold that wrapped around you and sat beside you at the fire.
Camelot’s Yuletide, by contrast, was a spectacle sharpened to a shine. Crimson and gold banners layered every wall and archway, richer and heavier than usual. Courtiers drifted through the halls in velvet and fur, jewels bright at throats and wrists, their laughter ringing too loud, as if joy were something that had to be proven by volume alone.
Below, the lower town seethed with it all — stalls packed into every sheltered corner, merchants shouting over one another, the air thick with spice and smoke and roasting chestnuts. It was dazzling, overwhelming, impossible to escape.
And above it all, the castle tradition: the Gift of the Longest Night.

I did not want to ask. No, that wasn’t quite true. I wanted to ask someone, but I did not want it to be Beloved. Beloved, who knew my father best, who held answers no one else could have. I had been jealous, I still was. I hated that he had so much of my father and I so little.

Summary
She had thought once that her loneliness had meaning, that it had a purpose. A true White Prophet was not to be a permanent fixture in other’s lives, this she knew, for this was what Clerres had taught her. The work was never simple, but it was straightforward: find the one she needed to, and set him on his course – whatever the cost. Their fates were intertwined, interlocked, and one could not go where the other would not stray, not until the change had been wrought. And that was all; White Prophets could not form attachments, they could not allow the world to hurt them as it did humans. Amber knew this.
How lucky she was to be wrong.

Summary
“Don’t go. I’ve missed you. Sleep here tonight. Please.”
So I did.
I would like to say what came next was a result of this pondering, that the realization came as I considered his goodness, or that it arrived as I considered our brief moment of singularity in the moments before bed in which I asked to heal him. Instead, my breath caught watching his spun-gold hair in the flickering light of his abandoned cookfire, and the epiphanies fell onto me like an avalanche on a deer who can’t run fast enough down the snowy slope, so suddenly it seemed the wind had been knocked out of me.
