"Three sessions," Vergil said. "They'll be two hours each."
Nero barely heard him. He was staring at the wall across from the door. There, a painting hung that hadn't been there before. The worn canvas had cracked and stained, and the frame was in similarly bad shape. Four figures were depicted there. Three of the faces were obscured, but one was still visible– that of a woman, with alert eyes and light-colored hair.
"Nero," Vergil said.
Startled out of his reverie, Nero turned to him. His father was looking back, with a steady, considering gaze.
“See,” Dante said, “the picture’s freaking out the kid.”

Summary
He always imagined a daughter. She would have his father’s white hair and milky blue eyes, but she would have Morgan’s face; maybe she would have Vergil’s frown; maybe she would have Morgan’s sly little smile.
Nonsensically, he hoped she was taller than he was; she would get crap for it, but maybe that meant that immature men who couldn’t see the power in her frame wouldn’t attempt to use her. He hoped she was shorter than he was; that when she came to him scared for comfort, she would fit perfectly in his arms and be reassured.
Occasionally he entertained himself between fits of torture by attempting to name her. Maybe Antigone, who guided her blind father until his death. Maybe something honoring Kundalakesi, who killed her husband who tried to kill her. Or maybe Hel, or something like it, who will bring the end of the world.
Vergil never once imagined he would have a son.

It was then that two portraits caught his eye. Surrounded by the cheery pictures that chronicled Hawke’s life, many taken in candid moments, the portraits could not have stuck out more. They were of two men, both dark-haired and eerily pale, but one had Hawke’s blue eyes and the other one had amber eyes.
“Brandon and Walter Hawke,” Nero said, more to himself.
“Who now,” said Dante.
“The twins,” Nero said, pointing to the two portraits. The men looked incredibly similar to each other: they had the same high cheekbones, the same hawk-like nose, even the same hairline, but one twin had his hair down past his shoulders and the other had hidden it under a top hat. If Nero had to guess, he’d say the portraits had been done around the 1800s, thereabouts, but hell if he could pin down the decade.
“What, twins owned this place?” Dante said.
Nero shook his head. “Not at the same time,” he said. “From what Hawke said, Brandon was the first. When he died, Walter inherited the place.” He looked around the corridor, sniffed, and said, “Guess he didn’t do much with it.”

Dante choked, a little. “Holy shit,” he said out loud, and hugged Vergil back, a little awkwardly. “You really missed me, huh?”
“You’re my twin brother,” said Vergil, softly. “Is it really so strange I’d hug you?”
Was it? Vergil wasn’t a huggy guy. He tended to avoid being touched, which was fine, Dante knew how to respect people’s boundaries, but—was it really so strange that his own twin could stand to hold him? Why was he so surprised? Vergil had done this before. Right?

“Guess not,” Dante said, warmly, patting his twin brother on the back of the head.

"Right." Nero rolled his eyes but grabbed a slice anyway. The warmth was welcome after the cold seeping through the old building's walls. They just ate in silence for a moment – not entirely comfortable, but better than before.
Nero finished his first slice before speaking, trying to sound casual. "So... Redgrave, huh?"
There was a slight pause in Dante's chewing, barely noticeable if you weren't looking for it. When he spoke, his tone was deliberately light. "Just an old alias. Sticks around, you know how it is."
"Funny choice for a fake name," Nero pressed reaching for a second, watching Dante's face carefully.
"Yeah, well." Dante reached for another slice himself, his movements just a fraction too measured. "Beats going by Tony again." The moment the words left his mouth, Dante's jaw tightened slightly – like he hadn't meant to let that slip.Around a year after the Savior Incident, Nero decides to visit Dante becoming increasingly concerned about the phone calls he's received from Lady about the devil hunter's drinking habits. Unfortunately for Nero, he finds himself delving deeper into the mystery of his uncle and gets more than he bargained for.

When the whole Red Grave incident had finally blown over and Nero'd taken up demon hunting jobs again, she'd turned her attention from crafting devil breakers to cooking up other useful demon-inspired odds and ends. Daggers, swords, guns, baseball bats with a penchant for swinging themselves if you got real mad--she'd crafted a whole arsenal out of the bits and pieces the girls and Nero had been bringing back for her in the past few months. It was great!
And then Dante and Vergil came back, and the demon parts started going to someone else.
