Summary
Hans was very drunk. They had sat together, side by side by the fire. The young lordling was near dosing; his eyes shuttered at half-mast. His gilded lashes were very long, and cast shadows upon the panes of his high cheeks.
Pretty. He was very pretty. The thought was upon Henry before he could outrun it. The other lad was very drunk, and his eyes were glazed and unseeing. Unchecked, Henry was left to look his fill. And, furthermore, he found himself much too sotted to care, let alone chastise himself for the impropriety.
Hans confided, that he had once fancied himself in love with a bathhouse whore. Her name had been Klara. He had brought her flowers. She had preferred some other fellow though, and now she would not entertain him. He wasn't sad about it, though.
And then, the young nobleman had said the queerest thing. So queer, that Henry had turned his words, over and over in his head since laying down upon his bedroll.

Summary
Were Istvan a superstitious man, he would have supposed the boy to be an omen. The harrowed face of him; pale hair, pale eyes, pale skin. Spectral in his loveliness. As quiet as the grave. He did not even know how old he was. He might be seventeen or seventy. He was old, yet he was innocence. He since stopped belonging to the constraints of time, when everyone who had ever known him had died. Now that there was nobody left to know, Erik existed in a frame that was entirely his own. The world belonged to nobody but himself, and he was a reflection of it.
**
This story explores the meeting of Erik and Istvan, and eventually, Erik's healing and redemption.

Summary
He heard the bed creak, though he did not even deign to open his eyes. Peculiar for a man so watchful. But as all things; Zizka already knew. He laid upon his back, with his hands folded lightly across his stomach. Against his arm, he felt the gentle heat of another body. She'd be curled in a ball, no doubt. And rubbing her feet slow together like a cricket. That was her method of self-soothing. That, along with his presence, apparently. Zizka did not forsake her that.

Summary
**REUPLOAD + REWRITTEN**
They both knew it was goodbye that night in Suchdol. Henry had saved them all, though the one person he could not save was himself.
Hans Capon tried to move on. He had buried his secret lover with his own two hands, though the grave in Skalitz defied all notions of logic. Flowers never withered. Candles placed on that soil never burned down.
Stranger still, a curse had befallen Rattay. A never ending rain and unexplainable happenings leaving townsfolk missing, dead or changed. When Heinrich befriended a raven with an uncanny intelligence and a penchant for showing up at the worst of times - what more could he see but an omen of death?
With a failing marriage, a son he barely knew, and a town that thought him ill of the mind, Hans sought to end it all.
Only to start a new nightmare altogether.

Summary
A brutal ambush leaves bodies strewn across the roadside. In the aftermath, Lady Death moves silently between them as she gathers souls for the afterlife.
In Rattay, a desperate Lord calls her name, but she closes her ears to his cries. It is not his time yet.
He'd been too slow to save him, and now he was too weak to join him. Another failure to call his own, another disappointment. His trembling hands dropped blonde hair into the filth that he'd wrung from his stomach. A sickening tableau of his desperation painted on the floor of his chamber.
Somewhere else, Henry of Skalitz sits under a Linden tree in the sun of a new dawn. "All will be well" he tells himself. He just needs to wait. His Lord will come.

Summary
It all began with that fucking peasant.
Hans Capon, a noble used to the finer things in life, never guessed a blacksmith’s boy could unsettle him so completely. Henry’s defiance was matched only by the weight of his grief. He possessed an unyielding fire that refused to bow before insufferable lords, no matter how handsome they were.
Hate was supposed to be simple. Instead, the more they tried to hate each other, the more the both of them couldn't.

Summary
"See? I just knew it," Hans says, poking Henry's chest. "I knew you’d be too damn hairy. Look at all this. You're practically a barbarian."
Henry's snort is fond when it leaves his lungs, more exhale than sound. "You're hairy too," he offers graciously, flicking his eyes down a pale chest. His memory conjures up images of blond tufts—darkened with water, clustered beneath a navel, peeking coyly from under an armpit—before he banishes them. "It's just hard to see on your arms and legs, cause your hair is so fine. It makes your skin look soft," he adds, crazily, airing a thought that should have been kept barred and bolted.
"Do you think about my skin often, blacksmith's boy?"
"No." Henry is distracted; Hans's finger is twisting around his chest hair, an entirely new sensation for Henry's body. His spine tingles. "Maybe. I dunno."
—
Hans keeps insisting that Henry share his bed. A very normal and platonic thing to do.
