Work Text:

“I’m pregnant,” Izuku told him out of the blue one day while he was making breakfast. His entire body froze and his eyes widened in shock. He lowered his head and gently set down the spatula he had in his hand onto the counter. He slowly turned around to face his wife, who was standing there, nervously fiddling with her fingers and worrying her bottom lip with her teeth.

“Are... are you serious?” Katsuki asked in a low, emotionless voice. Izuku nodded, tears starting to prick at her eyes.

“I took three tests just to be sure,” she admitted with a wet chuckle, looking at him expectantly. Katsuki stared at her, face impassive, until she got antsy. “Well? A-aren’t you going to say something?”

“I think I’m gonna faint,” he warned before promptly passing out.

When Katsuki awoke on the couch some time later, he immediately started laughing.

“Hey, haha, babe,” he called out to Izuku as she came into the room to check on him, “I just had the strangest fucking dream. You said you were pregnant,” he said with a laugh, which died off when Izuku gave him a serious look.

“I-it wasn’t a dream, Kacchan,” she said, her brows slightly furrowed and a small frown tugging at her lips. His smile slowly fell as realization dawned on him.

“You... you’re seriously... pr... pregnant?” he asked slowly, almost unable to get the words out.

“Are you upset?” she asked worriedly, tears welling in her eyes again. Katsuki shot up from the couch and enveloped her in a giant hug, causing his wife to squeak in surprise.

“You dumbass! Why the fuck would I be upset!? Holy shit you’re pregnant! Oh my God! I’m gonna be a dad! You’re gonna be a mom! Holy fuck, shit... Shit, you’re pregnant with my baby, with our baby!” He cheered, spinning her around in his arms. Happy laughter escaped her mouth as happy tears spilled down her face.

“I-I’m glad,” she sniffed, rubbing at her eyes. “I-I was worried that y-you’d be upset,” she admitted. Katsuki kissed her temple in an attempt to calm her down.

“Well you worried for nothing, you fucking dumbass,” he chastised, resting his forehead against her own. “Fuck, we’re gonna need so much baby shit. Where do we even begin?” Izuku laughed.

“I can probably ask Ochako, she’ll know what to do, considering she and Iida just had a baby. Or ask my mom.” Katsuki felt his face pale.

“Oh fuck, the old hag is going to lose her shit,” he groaned into her shoulder, causing Izuku to laugh.

“I feel like my mom’s gonna pass out,” she speculated, patting him on the back. “Wanna meet up and tell them? Get it over with?” Katsuki groaned again.

“Fine, let’s get this shit out of the way. Won’t be able to escape the old hag forever,” he grumbled, scratching at the back of his head, dreading the reactions his parents were going to have.

“You’re what!? ” Mitsuki screamed, drawing the attention of everyone in the restaurant. “You’re actually fucking pregnant!?

“Quit screaming, you old hag!” Katsuki yelled back, getting in his mother’s face as small explosions went off in his palm.

“Please calm down you two,” Masaru pleaded, trying to quiet them down.

“Oh, Izuku, are you really pregnant?” Inko asked, tears leaking from her eyes, her hands clasped together in front of her. Izuku nodded, a wide smile on her face. Her mother squealed and threw her arms around her, squeezing tightly. “I’m so, so happy for you! I’m going to be a grandmother! Oh, have you thought of any names? What do you think they’ll look like? I hope it’s a girl, but a boy is just as good, so long as they’re healthy. Oh, Izuku, I’m so excited.” Inko rambled, overwhelmed with joy.

“Geez Mom, I think you’re more excited than we are,” Izuku laughed, hugging her back.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Inko said, fanning at her face. “I’m just... I’m so happy for you!” she beamed.

“Why can’t you be like that, old hag?” Katsuki muttered, propping his face on his palm. Mitsuki smacked her son on the back of his head, causing him to cry out angrily.

“Quit complaining, you damn brat!” the woman chastised before fixing Izuku with a warm smile. “I can’t tell you how happy I am for you, dear. How far along are you?”

“A month and a half, I’d say,” Izuku said, cradling her unassuming stomach gently. Katsuki felt overcome by pride and happiness at the sight, a proud smile spreading across his face.

“Oi, brat, you better pull your fucking weight during this pregnancy,” Mitsuki warned, pulling on his ear. “You better cater to her every fucking whim. She’s got a fucking baby growing inside her, after all. You make sure she doesn’t strain herself.” Katsuki growled and smacked her hand away.

“Deku isn’t some helpless brat, you hag!” he spat back, slamming his fist on the table and glaring at his mother. “She’s a fucking pro hero, she can take care of herself!”

“Yeah, right now she can,” Mitsuki drawled, further irritating Katsuki. “But what about when she’s so big she can’t see her toes? What about when she’s up late at night with cravings so bad she can’t fall asleep? What about when she’s having mood swings every other minute? Huh? You’ve got to step up, Katsuki. I don’t want to hear from Izuku that you’re not taking care of her!”

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” Izuku laughed off, trying to diffuse the situation. The two Bakugous gave each other heated glares but didn’t start up their argument again. They spent the rest of the meal talking about baby things and baby names, all wrapped up in the excitement. Katsuki couldn’t wait to go home so he didn’t have to deal with the old hag’s nagging, but he did secretly appreciate the support. Izuku also seemed to be emotionally exhausted as they both flopped onto the couch together, with her laying on top of him.

“That was fucking exhausting,” Katsuki groaned, throwing an arm over his eyes.

“And we still have to tell our friends,” Izuku laughed into his chest. “Should we tell them all at once or should we just text them individually?”

“Who fucking cares? They’ll find out one way or another,” he muttered. The two of them spent the rest of the day relaxing and mentally preparing for the coming days.

Once Izuku told Ochako, she lost her mind, and word quickly spread amongst their friends. She insisted that she and their female ex classmates and friends go shopping for baby stuff. Everyone was on board, and so the group of pro heroes went around from shop to shop, looking for anything and everything a baby could need. Izuku was worried over every little thing, but Ochako was there to reassure her. The other girls cooed over the tiny baby clothes and Izuku was suddenly overcome with emotion. When Katsuki came home to his crying wife surrounded by baby clothes, he felt a drop of sweat bead off his forehead.

Their friends came by to ‘help’ (annoy) them. Ochako and Mina helped Izuku set up the nursery, although Katsuki stepped in when it came to the design elements. He loved Izuku, but she had a shitty sense of design, and like hell he was gonna let the other idiots design his kid’s bedroom. He dictated every aspect of the nursery because his kid was going to get nothing but the best. Kirishima, Kaminari and Sero teased him over his obsession with aesthetics, but he would not be ashamed of wanting a nice looking nursery for his kid. They could fucking fight him about it.

“I think I’m going to take a break from the hero work,” Izuku said a month and a half later while they were eating dinner. At three months pregnant, she was starting to show. “I’m worried that I’ll do something that will hurt the baby.” Katsuki put his fork down and looked over to her.

“I think that’s for the best,” he agreed. Tears started welling in Izuku’s eyes and she started sniffling. Katsuki panicked, still unused to her sudden mood swings. Yeah, he was used to her being emotional, but not to the extremes she was showing now. “What? What’s wrong?”

“I just, I feel like I’m giving up,” she cried, bringing her hands up to wipe away at the fat tears rolling down her face. Katsuki rolled his eyes at her reasoning and sighed.

“You’re not giving up on shit, Deku,” he said matter of factly. “Fuckin’ Round Face took time off as well, y’know. And , you’re carrying a fucking baby inside you. Your pro hero career is on a temporary hold, heroes do that all the time, it’s not a big deal. Once the baby is born, and we get the hang of things, you can throw your self sacrificing ass back out there.” Izuku began nodding, but tears still rolled down her face.

“Y-you’re right, Kacchan,” she whimpered. “But, I still feel awful, like I’m letting people down.”

“Well, stop it,” Katsuki said unhelpfully as he got up and walked around the table to hug her. “You’re overthinking it. You owe it to the baby to take it easy anyways,” Izuku nodded, took a deep breath and finally managed to calm down. “Now finish your fucking food, babe. I’m not going to let you starve yourself or the baby just because you‘re ass is emotional.” She laughed and began to happily dig back into her food, as if she didn’t just break down into tears a minute ago. This pregnancy was going to kill him.

“Kacchan what is this?” Izuku yelled, holding up a dirty plate. Katsuki looked over to her, looked at the plate and shrugged.

“Dirty dish. I’m gonna clean them later,” he said before turning back to the tv.

“Clean them, now,” she commanded, her voice low and dark. Katsuki snorted and kept his eyes on the tv.

“I’m watching something, I’ll do it later,” he repeated.

Goddamn it, Katsuki!” she screamed as she threw the plate onto the ground, smashing it into a million pieces. Katsuki’s head whipped around to look at her in surprise, and Izuku also looked completely shocked with herself. “Oh, oh my god. Kacchan I’m so sorry, I-I don’t know what came over me. I shouldn’t have shouted at you. I’ll clean up the dishes, I’m sorry,” she said, looking around for a towel.

“You stay right fucking there, you hormonal idiot,” he huffed out, putting on his house slippers and grabbing a broom. “I’m not gonna let you walk around barefoot and get shards all up in your feet. Where the fuck are your house slippers? Damn idiot.” He began to diligently sweep up every shard of the broken plate until he was sure there was none left. He looked at her legs and noticed little cuts littered her skin. “Damn it Deku, you hurt yourself.”

“I-it’s fine Kacchan, I can take care of it from here,” she tried to bargain with him, until Katsuki fixed her with a withering glare.

“No way, idiot,” he retorted, throwing the pieces out. He scooped her up bridal style and carried her into the bathroom where their first aid kits were. He set her on the toilet seat and rummaged around for the supplies. He then began to carefully clean her wounds, making sure there were no fragments in her skin. Izuku chuckled as he applied disinfectant to her cuts.

“Kacchan, you’re acting like I was cut really bad. I could’ve taken care of this myself,” she giggled as she pet his hair lovingly.

“I know you can, Deku,” he replied.

“I’m sorry I yelled at you, Kacchan,” she apologized again, to which he shrugged her off.

“It’s okay, you’re hormonal, I know you didn’t mean it,” he said. Izuku shook her head vigorously at his words.

That doesn’t matter,” she insisted. “Just because I’m hormonal doesn’t give me an excuse to be unfair to you. So, I’m sorry. I’ll try to be better in the future.” Katsuki rolled his eyes and leaned up to give her a quick peck on the lips.

“I appreciate the apology, shitty Deku,” he said as he finished dressing her cuts. “I’ll go wash the dishes now,” he said as he got up.

“No, let me do it,” she argued, standing up off the toilet seat.

“No, Deku, you just relax on the fucking couch. I don’t want you breaking anything else,” he teased as he swooped down to carry her to the couch. She whined in protest as he plopped her down on the couch, kissing the side of her face.

“Kacchan? Do we have sauerkraut?” Izuku asked after poking her head into the fridge. Katsuki was confused.

Noooo ?” he answered, unable to recall when they had ever gotten sauerkraut.

“Oh,” she said, sounding disappointed. “Could you run to the store and get some? Please?” Katsuki rolled his eyes but stood up, grabbed his wallet and keys before going to put his shoes on.

“Do you want anything else, nerd?” he asked as he tugged his shoes on.

“Oh! Could you pick up vanilla ice cream? And some Doritos? Oh and pickles and icing?” she listed off. Katsuki felt his brow twitch in annoyance.

“Why don’t you write down a fuckin’ list for me, Deku?” he suggested sarcastically.

“Oh! That’s a great idea hun,” she beamed before rushing to get a pen and a pad of paper.

~~

Katsuki stared at the weird list of food items on the list and almost smashed his head into a wall. Izuku was having some weird as shit food cravings. Was this normal? Would it affect the baby? He read somewhere that whatever foods the mom ate, the baby would like in the future. At least she was craving plenty of spicy shit, hopefully that would mean their kid would like spicy food too.

Katsuki slowed his walk in the middle of the aisle and began to get lost in his thoughts. What foods would their kid like? What would they dislike? What would their hobbies be? Would they be hot headed and prideful like him, or sweet and determined like his wife? He found himself hoping their kid would take after Izuku. He didn’t want his kid to be like him, especially like when he was younger. He shook his head at the thought; their kid was gonna be kickass, especially with Deku as their mom. While he was lost in thought, he almost ran into a middle aged woman with a handheld basket. She looked at him, surprised and he shuffled awkwardly. She had dark brown hair with streaks of gray that was pulled up into a high bun, pale skin and warm gray eyes.

“Uh, sorry,” he said lamely. The woman took a look at his cart and smiled up at him.

“Your honey pregnant?” she asked, her face kind and her voice filled with mirth.

“Uh, yeah, my wife,” Katsuki said as he awkwardly scratched the back of his head. “She’s having weird as hel- heck cravings, so she sent me out to go grocery shopping.”

“This your first baby?” she followed up, a knowing smile on her face. Katsuki nodded his head and her smile widened. “I remember my first child. Darn near drove my husband mad with my cravings,” she recalled with a laugh.

“Were, uh,” he coughed into his fist, feeling nervous, “were you, when you had your first baby, um. Were you, y’know, terrified?” he asked quietly. The woman gave him a tender smile and patted his hand comfortingly.

“Every parent is terrified over having their first child,” she tells him. “But there isn’t really a right way to raise a child, you just have to make sure you do everything with their best interest in mind.” Katsuki nodded at that, feeling a little more at ease.

“I can tell you’re going to be a loving father,” she said sweetly. He sighed, feeling his shoulders droop with exhaustion.

“Thanks,” he said before his phone started buzzing. When he pulled it out he saw it was Izuku texting him, wondering where he was. A look must’ve appeared on his face because the woman giggled at him.

“I’ll let you get back to your wife,” she said, patting his shoulder. “Good luck, deary,” she waved at him as she walked away. Katsuki smiled to himself and finished getting the rest of the food on his list. He checked out shortly after and carried the mountain of groceries back to the apartment. It wasn’t hard to carry it all, it just made moving around awkward. Was this how Deku felt all the time now? Damn. Thankfully, when he got back, Izuku was extremely grateful to him and was extra cuddly that night. However, Katsuki almost couldn’t bear to get too close to her, because her mouth reeked of sauerkraut. Whatever.

“Kacchan!? Kacchan!? ” Izuku called frantically from the kitchen. Katsuki rushed in, eyes narrowed and palms crackling.

“What!? What!? Are you okay!? Is the baby okay!? ” he asked in rapid fire, scared to all hell.

I felt a kick!” Izuku told him, her face bright and full of overwhelming happiness. Katsuki felt his entire body deflate in relief before his eyes widened in realization.

“You, you felt the baby?” he asked, to which Izuku nodded, happy tears brimming in her eyes. She gasped and looked down at her baby bump.

“It happened again!” she informed him, and Katsuki’s eyes zipped to her belly. She looked up at him, looking elated. “Come feel!” she said, grabbing his hand and placing it on her belly. Katsuki held his hand there for a moment, awkwardly hunched over, waiting for something, anything.

Finally, he felt a kick and his face lit up. He squatted down on the floor and placed both of his hands splayed out on her stomach, staring at it with a loving smile. Izuku had her hands delicately cradling her stomach as well, her smile rivaling the sun. Whenever the baby kicked, Katsuki felt his smile widen and he placed a gentle kiss onto her belly each time. Izuku burst into happy tears at the sight because, at five months pregnant, everything made her cry.

“Well Midoriya-san, Bakugou-san, your baby looks absolutely perfect,” the doctor informed them. They were at their first ultrasound, and Katsuki felt awkward as fuck.

He was way out of his comfort zone, especially when it came to waiting in a room surrounded by other hormonal women. Izuku had gone to her first appointment on her own, since Katsuki was at work, but this time he wanted to tag along. It was all worth it to know that their baby was safe and healthy.

“Would you like to know the sex of the baby?” the doctor asked. The two parents-to-be shared a look before Izuku shook her head.

“We want it to be a surprise,” she said, to which the doctor nodded her head.

“I understand,” she smiled. “Well, like I said, everything looks perfect. Remember to come back in around a month for your next appointment,” she reminded as the pair left the room. Once they properly scheduled their next visit, they began walking back home. Katsuki didn’t want Izuku to be walking around so much, but she said it was good to be active while pregnant. Plus, she still did training anyways, so Katsuki was just worrying over nothing. He couldn’t disagree with her there.

~~~~~
Katsuki growled in frustration as he cased after some shithead criminal with a stupid ass quirk. His quirk made whatever surface he touched sticky, making it almost impossible for people to pursue him on foot. He also extremely dangerous, because he put other people’s lives at risk in his attempt to escape. He dashed in front of cars, pushed people out of his way and into traffic, and so on. Katsuki was able to catch up with him by propelling himself through the air with his explosions, but when he did catch up to the criminal, he felt his blood boil and his vision tint red with rage.
“Deku, what the fuck!? ” he screamed as he watched his wife deck the criminal in the face, all while shielding a few scared civilians behind her. Izuku looked up at hearing her name and smiled widely at him.
“Kacchan, hi!” she greeted as if she hadn’t just apprehended a dangerous criminal. “I didn’t expect to see you here today. How are you?” she asked sweetly as she held the unconscious man by the front of his shirt.
“I’m fine, stupid Deku! Now, what the hell are you doing!?” he demanded as he stomped over to her, further frightening the surrounded civilians.
“Well, I was really craving some ramen, and I didn’t like what we had at home so I was heading down to that cute little ramen place nearby,” she explained. Katsuki wanted to explode.
“And you just decided it was a good idea to apprehend a fucking criminal? What if he hurt you!?” he shouted, grabbing her by the shoulders. She merely pouted at him.
“Kacchan, I may be pregnant but I’m not helpless,” she chastised.
“That doesn’t fucking matter, dumbass! You shouldn’t be putting yourself needlessly at risk like that.” He let his head fall to her shoulder as he let out a breath of frustration “I’m worried about you, Izuku. I know you’re more than capable of taking care of yourself, and I don’t think you’re weak, but I love you, and I don’t want anything to happen to you, or our baby.” Izuku dropped her hold on the criminal and hugged Katsuki comfortingly.
“I know, Katsuki, I’m sorry,” she whispered to him. “But I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.” He sighed fondly before picking his head back up and looking down at her with a proud smirk on his face.
“I know, stupid Deku,” he said, kissing her forehead. “Just, just be careful, okay?”
“Always, Kacchan,” she promised. Katsuki turned over to deal with the criminal and hand him over to the police. He dreaded the paperwork he was going to have to deal with but was distracted by the pleading look his wife was giving him. “Kacchan, come eat with me, please?” she begged, tugging on his shirt. He smiled at her and ruffled her head.
“Sorry Deku, I’m still working,” he apologized. “I’ll be off in a few hours though, okay?” She pouted at him, looking extremely cute while she did so. God, his wife was adorable.
“If you don’t mind, I’d love to treat you to lunch,” a voice came from beside them. The couple turned and Katsuki recognized the person speaking as the middle aged woman he had spoken to around a month ago.
“Oh, it’s you,” he said, dumbfounded. Izuku looked between the two, confused.
“You know her?” she asked. The woman giggled at her expression.
“We met a little over a month ago while he was out shopping, for you I assume,” she explained. “My name is Mei.”
“Yeah, she gave me some, uh, parenthood advice, while I was out getting your weird ass food one night,” he added.
“I never would have guessed that the young man I gave advice to over a month ago was the pro hero Ground Zero,” she laughed charmingly, bringing a hand up to her cheek. “Nor that his wife was the pro hero Deku. Thank you both for keeping us safe.”
“Oh, it’s our pleasure ma’am,” Izuku said graciously, a pink blush on her face. “Thank you for your support. And thank you for giving my Kacchan some advice.”
“Oh, it wasn’t much,” the woman waved off, a blush appearing on her face as well.
“Oi, Ground Zero, quit flirting and come on!” another hero called out from behind him. He growled in annoyance before turning around.
I’ll flirt with my wife as much as I damn well please, you shitty fucking extra!” he shouted. He turned to give Izuku one last kiss before stomping over to the other heroes. Once they were left alone, Mei turned to Izuku and laced their arms together.
“Please, let me take you to lunch, dearie, as a thank you,” she said.
“Oh, you really don’t have to,” Izuku insisted. “Although I would more than appreciate the company.” The two women walked down to the ramen noodle place Izuku had mentioned earlier, making amicable small talk and becoming fast friends. Once they reached the place and ordered, they began to talk about Izuku’s pregnancy.
“How far along are you?” Mei asked, sipping on her tea.
“About six months,” she responded, petting her stomach lovingly.
“I must say you’re absolutely glowing,” Mei laughed. “When I was pregnant with my first, I felt like a big ball of lead.”
“Well, I certainly don’t feel glowing,” Izuku sighed with a little smile. “Especially with all the cravings I’ve been having.”
“Yes, I noticed when I met your husband,” the older woman giggled, her gray eyes crinkling in amusement. “Don’t worry dearie, we all have strange cravings. When I was pregnant with my third child, I could not stop craving veggie pizza with sardines, chocolate sauce and peanut butter.” Izuku snorted at the admission, letting out a bright laugh afterwards.
“Kacchan has been so patient with me to be putting up with my cravings and hormones,” she said. Mei nodded with a smile, seeming quite amused at the mention of Katsuki.
“He’s very worried about being a good father to your child,” Mei said. Izuku nodded and smiled into her cup of tea.
“He’s not the only one,” she mumbled. “I’m so scared that I’m going to mess up the baby. I’ve never done this before, and I just want the baby to be happy and healthy,” she sighed. “Ochako made it all seem so easy,” she said with a fond shake of her head, tears pricking at her eyes.
“Well, I’ll tell you the same thing I told your husband,” Mei said, placing a comforting hand over Izuku’s. “There isn’t really a right way to raise a child, you just have to make sure you do everything with their best interest in mind.” Izuku smiled, brushing away at her tears.
“Thank you,” she said, “that makes me feel a little better, especially knowing Kacchan’s just as worried as I am.” She and Mei laughed together as they were served their food. They continued to talk for hours, with Mei sharing with Izuku all of the hard won wisdom she earned from having four children and helping with even more grandchildren. When the baby began kicking, she gave Mei permission to feel her belly. The look in Mei’s eyes was warm and motherly. The sun was beginning to set when they decided to finally part ways, but not before exchanging contact information. Izuku had offered to walk Mei home, but she waved her off, assuring the pregnant hero that she would be fine on her own. When Izuku got back, Katsuki still wasn’t back, and she almost started crying.
Overcome with emotions, Izuku pulled on a pair of her maternity pants and stole one of Kacchan’s shirts, grabbed some ice cream and hot sauce, and wrapped herself up in a blanket on the couch. She cried into her hot sauce covered ice cream as she watched a TV show about puppies. And that was how Katsuki found her a couple hours later.
“Kacchan!” she practically wailed once he stepped inside. “I missed you so much,” she cried, fat tears continuing to roll down her face. She made grabby hands at him, wanting her husband in her arms as soon as possible.
“Gimme a minute, shitty Deku,” he grumbled, looking worn out. The more time that passed where he wasn’t in her arms, the harder Izuku cried. Damn it, she hated being so emotional. “Fuck, Deku, what are you crying for now?” he asked as he plopped down next to her on the couch and pulled her closer to him.
“I missed you,” she hiccuped, face red and blotchy. “And my head hurts, and I feel so fat,” she babbled on, unable to contain her emotions.
“I missed you too, babe,” he began, trying to calm her down as she cried into his chest. “You’re not fat, you’ve got a fucking baby growing inside of you. And your head hurts ‘cuz you’re dehydrated from fucking crying so damn much. I’m gonna grab you some fucking water, idiot,” he groused out, getting up to get her some water and some medicine for her head. When he came back, her crying had subsided for the most part and she was just sniffling.
“Here, drink nerd,” he commanded, forcing the drink and medicine into her hands. “Now shut up and watch your puppy shit or whatever.” This calmed her down greatly, although she still cried at how cute the puppies were. Katsuki just rubbed his hand on her back soothingly, working her through her tears.
~~~~~

Izuku was feeling stir crazy as she sat in the apartment. She wasn’t used to being so lazy; she had been warned that too much activity, or at least hero grade activity, would hurt the baby, so she was stuck with very basic training. She tried to busy herself with cleaning and reading, but she had cleaned their apartment until it was sparkling and she read all the books. Three times. Also, everything made her tired, even things she could normally do with barely a thought tired her out. She hated feeling so weak and helpless, but she did what was best for the baby.

She sat gingerly down on the couch, trying to find a comfortable position to watch some tv and eat the lunch she made. As she absentmindedly snaked and lazed around, her thoughts began to wander. She was so excited to meet their baby, so excited to learn about them; what made them happy, what made them upset; what they liked to do and what they didn’t like to do; what their dreams were and what their fears were; what would their Quirk be?

A seed of dread planted itself in her mind: what if their child was Quirkless? She wouldn’t care, she’d love her child no matter what, but she feared for them all the same. She didn’t want their baby to endure the torment she had growing up, didn’t want them to be subjected to what she had lived through. But if they did have a Quirk, she wanted to instill in them a sense of heroic justice, to always do the right thing and protect those who couldn’t protect themselves; to view everyone as their equal, no matter what their Quirk was or what their status was. She wanted their child to be kind and self assured, a perfect combination of her and Kacchan. She didn’t even realize she was crying until Kacchan came in and said something.

“You alright, Deku?” he asked with some concern, although not too much, seeing as anything and everything set her off.

“I just hope our baby is a good person,” she spoke, looking contemplatively down at her belly. Kacchan looked over at her and sighed.

“Yeah, I hope so too,” he whispered sadly, causing her to look up at him with worry. Despite the fact that Izuku had long forgiven him, and they had worked past their issues, she knew Kacchan still harbored some guilt over his bullying.

“Kacchan,” she whispered, getting up, walking over to him and taking his head in her hands. “Kacchan? Kacchan, look at me,” she instructed, as he looked up at her, eyebrows pinched. “You are not the same as you were. I love you, Katsuki, and although you hurt me, I’ve forgiven you, and I want you to forgive yourself too. But, if you must, use that guilt so we can teach our child to be better than both of us.” He huffed out a wet laugh.

“Yeah, like anyone can be better than you,” he complimented, kissing the palm of her hand. Izuku laughed brightly and kissed the tip of his nose.

“Hey Deku,” Ochako asked while they were shopping at the mall. “Are you feeling okay? Are you dehydrated?”

“My feet hurt,” she whined, her head spinning as she looked for a place to sit. Uraraka gently guided her over to a bench so she could rest.

“Do you need something to eat?” she asked helpfully. Deku nodded, her face slightly sweaty. “Stay here, I’ll be back as soon as possible,” she said before rushing off to get her very much eight and a half months pregnant friend some food. Deku closed her eyes and leaned her head back, sighing. She looked down at her perturbing stomach with an exasperated expression.

“You are not making this easy on me, little one,” she sighed to her baby, cradling her stomach tenderly. She felt the baby kick in response, as if they were taunting her and she huffed a laugh. Looks like their baby would be as much of an adventurous spirit as their parents. She closed her eyes and massaged her temples as she sat there, trying to alleviate the headache that was forming. Ochako came back a few minutes later, arms filled with food that made Izuku drool.

“You need to take better care of yourself, Deku,” Uraraka chided, a small pout on her face. “I know you don’t like to take it easy, but please, you’ll only hurt more the harder you push. Trust me, I know,” she finished as Izuku munched on her food. She huffed around her food, looking down in shame. “You only have four more weeks to wait before you get to meet her,” she reminded gently.

“How’re you so sure the baby is a girl?” Izuku asked with a laugh, to which she received a mischievous smile.

“I can just tell,” she said with a shrug. “What do you think the baby will be?”

“To be honest, I don’t really care if the baby is a boy or a girl, I’ll love them no matter what they are,” she said between bites of food. “But if you’re asking me what I think  the sex will be, I also think the baby will be a girl.” She then laughed slightly. “I think Kacchan might want a boy, but I know he doesn’t particularly care either way. He’s just anxious to meet them.”

“Remember, just four more weeks,” Ochako beamed, wrapping her arms around the pregnant hero. Izuku looked down at her large belly, excited to meet them soon.

Two and a half weeks later, Izuku’s water broke. She had been out shopping for some snacks when all of the sudden, wetness was leaking down her legs. The store worker behind the register and the customers behind her gasped as her eyes widened. She dropped all of her things and ran out of the store before booking it down to the hospital, heart bounding in fear. Her contractions were killing her, and she had tunnel vision as she ran. She busted through the lobby of the ER, face flushed and sweaty, drawing the attention of everyone inside.

“Please, help,” she choked out. “Baby, coming, I-“ she broke off with a groan as she felt a contraction. The nurses acted quickly, grabbing a bed for her to lay in and quickly wheeled her to the delivery room. She was groaning in pain at the contractions, gritting her teeth and trying to breathe evenly like the nurse instructed her.

“Ma’am, what is your name?” a nurse asked.

“Midoriya Izuku,” she choked out. “Please, I need to call my husband. Bakugou Katsuki, he has- he has to be here!” she begged, eyes brimming with tears.

“We’ll contact him right away, Midoriya-san,” a nurse said, rushing out of the room. Everything then passed by in a slow blur, going too fast and too slow at the same time. She wanted Kacchan with her, she couldn’t do this alone. She was relieved of her bottoms as the nurses examined her progress.

“Midoriya-san, remember to breathe,” the first nurse said, her pink eyes focused. “Your baby is going to be here soon.”

What!? No!” she cried out, overcome with emotions. “Kacchan- Kacchan has to be here!” she sobbed out.

“I’m sorry, but the baby isn’t going to wait for anyone,” the male nurse said, placing a comforting hand on her’s for a brief moment. “We called his agency, so he should be on his way.” Izuku was about to shout that it wasn’t good enough to just call the agency, but was cut of my a scream of pain. Suddenly, a doctor rushed in, followed by another nurse.

“Okay Midoriya-san,” the doctor said without preamble, settling between her open legs, “I’m going to have to have you push, but only when I tell you to, okay?” Izuku nodded rapidly at her words, trying to focus on her breathing. “Okay, push!” A strangled groan left her mouth as she did as she was told. She had gone through immense pain before, but it wasn’t like this. It wasn’t so bad in comparison to what she had endured before, but her emotional pain was far greater; Kacchan was supposed to be there with her. She needed him with her.

“Push!”

Gggrah!” she groaned out, gripping the railings of the hospital bed hard enough to crush the metal.

“Stop,” the doctor said, pausing. “Okay, push!” The repetition of ‘push’ and ‘don’t push’ went on for who knows how long, until the doctor said, “the baby is crowning! Push!” With a final loud cry, Izuku pushed with everything she had, and a high pitched crying filled the room. She panted heavily, forehead drenched in sweat, as she blearily opened her eyes. The doctor was bustling around, doing something while the nurses cleaned her up.

“Congratulations, Midoriya-san,” the doctor said, walking over to her with a baby swaddled in a blanket in her arms. “You have given birth to a beautiful baby girl.” Izuku felt a new wave of tears leak down her face as she reached out to take her baby.

“H-hello, little one,” she sniffed, pulling the blanket out of the way to look at her face. “I’ve waited s-so long to *hic* meet you. I love you,” she cooed to her child as the nurses finished cleaning her up and began to check her and the baby’s vitals. She pulled down her shirt to let her daughter breastfeed as the nurses bustled around her, ignoring the world around her in favor of taking in the sight of her daughter.

The baby latched on and began sucking gently, her skin soft against her own. She just couldn’t believe how amazing her daughter was, looking at the tiny dark wisps of hair on her head and her cute round cheeks. She smiled down at her baby, craning her neck down to kiss the top of her head. The baby looked up at her, and she gasped at the gorgeous red eyes staring back at her. She was in love.

Bakugou was racing down the halls of the maternity ward, scaring everyone in his path, but he didn’t care. His fucking wife was was giving birth and he hadn’t been told until an hour after his agency had been notified. To say he was livid was an understatement. He was missing the birth of his fucking child, and those assholes decided they’d just take their goddamn time telling him.

He had burst into the hospital and demanded to know where his wife was, scaring the hell out of the nurse behind the front desk as well as everyone in the waiting room, but he was too angry to care. He’d missed the birth of his firstborn child, and he could never get that back. But there was no time to stew in his anger, he had to see his wife and meet his child.

He found the room she was in and gripped the handle, ripping the door open. He gasped out and felt his heart damn near burst out of his chest. His wife was laying in a hospital bed, cradling a bundle of blankets in her arms and looking down at it with an enamored smile. Her long hair was swept over one shoulder and she looked entirely at peace as light streamed through the large window, shining on her skin.

“Izuku,” he breathed, prompting her to look up at him in surprise, before an enchanting smile spread across her face.

“Katsuki,” she gasped out, tears pricking at her eyes. “Come meet your daughter.” He felt his heart stop as he apprehensively shuffled to the edge of the bed, his hands shaking in anticipation. “Hold your arms out, make sure you support her head,” she instructed gently as she carefully transferred the newborn child into his arms. He let out a choked sob, tears rolling down his face as he cradled his daughter against him, red eyes meeting red.

She’s perfect,” he forced out, overwhelmed by how beautiful she was, and by how much love welled up inside of him.

“She is,” his wife echoed before silence momentarily lapsed over them.

“I should’ve been here,” he lamented, ducking his head down to nuzzle his daughters. The slight wisps of her dark hair tickled his nose and he couldn’t stifle his small chuckle despite how angry he was.

“You’re here now,” Izuku said as he sat down on the edge of the bed. “So, what are we naming her?” He took pause for a moment, because, while they had discussed baby names at length, seeing her in front of him, in his arms, only one suited her.

Emiko,” he said with conviction.

“I love it,” she agreed with a nod. He carefully moved so he was lying beside Izuku on her bed, and she molded herself to his side, resting her head on his shoulder and wiggling a finger in front of Emiko’s face. Their daughter babbled, grabbing Izuku’s scared finger with her chubby little hand. They both cried as they took in her presence, cooing and awing at any and every little thing she did. Katsuki had never felt so overcome with emotions in his life, but he had also never been happier. Even though he had just met her, he knew his baby was destined for great things. The doctor came back to check up on them some time later, and Katsuki sneered at the woman, unwilling to share his daughter with anyone.

“Such a protective daddy, Kacchan,” Izuku chuckled teasingly, nuzzling into his shoulder.

“Damn right,” he assured, snuggling the swaddled baby closer to him. “I’ll fucking kill anyone who tries to take her from me.”

“You’ll need to work on the swearing,” his wife chided gently, pecking him on the cheek.

“Eh, she’ll probably be swearing like a sailor when she starts talking anyways,” he boasted. “Wait, actually, she’s not allowed to grow,” he looked down at his baby, “you need to stay a baby forever,” he instructed, giving the baby girl a pointed look. Izuku laughed euphorically, cuddling into him at the display.

“We’ll worry about that later,” she said. Katsuki sighed and nodded in agreement. Right now, all that mattered was that he had his daughter, healthy and happy in his arms, and he realized that she already had him wrapped around her chubby little finger. He’d move mountains for her, overcome any and every obstacle to make sure she was happy always, go to any lengths he had to to protect her from harm.

“I just, I can’t believe she’s finally here,” he spoke softly. Izuku nodded in agreement.

“I know,” she said. “It feels almost unreal. But Kacchan, I’m so happy right now. I love you and Emiko so much, I feel like I’m going to burst.” He chuckled wetly at her statement, and couldn’t help but wholeheartedly agree. They sat in silence for a little while after that, just taking in Emiko’s presence. As he was gently caressing the baby’s chubby freckled face, he felt Izuku lean against him heavily. He looked over to her and realized she had fallen asleep against his shoulder, and couldn’t help but smile warmly. His daughter yawned cutely in his arms, making his heart flutter, and also drifted into sleep. He felt his tears start anew, because fuck, he had never felt so happy in his life.

He had thought that the day he got his Quirk was the happiest day of his life. He had thought that when he had gotten into U.A. it was the happiest day in his life. He had thought that earning his provisional hero license was the happiest day in his life. He had thought that graduating U.A. had been the happiest day in his life. He had thought that marrying Izuku was the happiest day in his life. But all of those things paled in comparison to this day. His babygirl was safe in his arms, the love of his life was sleeping soundly beside him, and they were both healthy and happy. This was, undoubtedly, the happiest day of his life.

“Fuck!” Katsuki exclaimed loudly, having knocked something off of Emiko’s high chair. Emiko, having been startled, jolted violently in her high chair. “Oh, shit.” He whipped his head around when his wife started laughing hysterically, finding her doubled over with the force of her laughter. He looked back at their one year old and yelled “fuck” again, resulting in a wailing, screaming baby.

“Ka-Kacchan! S-stop, hahahaha, sh-she thinks you’re mad at her,” Izuku choked out between peels of laughter. He growled in frustration to himself as he scooped the baby out of her high chair and began attempting to comfort her, shooting his still laughing wife a death glare.

“Shut up, shitty Deku!” he screamed angrily, before cursing to himself when Emiko just cried louder. “Damn it,” he grumbled as he bounced her slightly in his arms, trying to sooth her.

“I-I’m sorry, Kacchan,” his wife giggled, tears of laughter still trickling down her face, trying to compose herself. He merely scowled at her as he tried to calm the crying one year old in his arms. “It was just so funny,” she finished with a series of giggles.

“Yeah, yeah,” he dismissed as Emiko’s cries finally dissipated. “Alright, no more tears, princess,” he cooed, setting their daughter back into her high chair and placing a kiss on the top of her head. He felt Izuku come up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist and kissing him between his shoulder blades.

“I love you, Kacchan,” she murmured against him, and he felt the heat of her breath through the fabric of his shirt.

“I love you too, shitty Deku,” he mumbled back, a small smile gracing his features. Their daughter babbled and smiled at them, causing the two parents to melt at the adorable display. They still felt like they had no idea if they were doing anything right, but they were all happy, and that’s what mattered.
