“Rumiii!—“ Zoey calls out, laying down on her side with a huff. “Mir Mir—“ She whines out as well, her stomach laying against a maternity pillow, well— it was Derpy with Sussie sleeping on his head, but he doubled as a maternity pillow at this point.
She was approximately 7 months and 3 weeks pregnant. At least that’s what Rumi had been able to track, remembering the last time they all had had sex before the symptoms showed—
~~~
The three were ecstatic, more than that. But, they did have to jumpstart everything else in their life. Only a month prior to them finding out she was pregnant they had finally told their fans they were in a relationship, finally ending shipping wars since all three girls admitted to their love.
Bobby was the first to find out, he was happy for his girls, but made sure they knew some people wouldn’t like it. But he'd make it his mission to keep those kinds of people as far away from them as possible.
The fans were second, the three releasing a photoshoot that was borderline scandalous, but not enough to raise red flags if they hadn’t posted it with their following caption:
‘Happy to announce that the girls and I will never break up, in more ways than just as a band :) 💚💜🩷’
Of course, the internet blew up.
Some fans found it weird, unorthodox, gross even. The girls didn’t care, especially considering most of the fans were incredibly happy to see that the girls were sharing this part of their lives with them, even if it was only an announcement and not nearly as invasive as what other fans wanted to hear about.
Celine was the last to know, considering she didn’t even keep up with social media after Rumi came to her under that tree on that dreaded night, she found out when she had came over to confront Rumi about their relationship between the two of them, wanting to mend things.
Finding her basically adoptive daughter sandwiched between her band mates was not what she expected to see walking into that tower.
After the girls had gotten dressed, Rumi had told Celine everything. After a lot of crying and yelling, it started becoming better, little by little, Celine having given Rumi space but also sending gifts for the three girls now and then. Some more appropriate than others.
They thought the hard part was over, now all they had to do was keep performing with no pressure, since the honmoon had been sealed. They could enjoy being in public without having to restrict themselves from holding one another, no more secrets, no more hiding.
Until, Zoey started getting nauseous.
Zoey had missed her period but she didn’t think much of it, she’s always had an irregular cycle.
But when Mira had made her favorite dinner for the first time in a few weeks, she couldn’t stop the way her face contorted and turned a sickish green.
Zoey had raced to the bathroom, barely able to tear the seat open before she threw everything up. Lightheaded and shaking, she didn’t feel the way Rumi and Mira went to her side immediately, rubbing her back and pulling her hair up so it didn’t get in the way.
She thought it was a fluke, that maybe Mira put something in the meal that made her sick? Despite just the smell alone tearing her stomach apart.
The next sign was when she couldn’t keep up with her girls during their daily choreography practice, sweating bullets, her crop top and shorts soaked within the first hour.
“Are you okay?” Rumi asks, thinking the girl was getting sick.
Zoey just waved the older girl off, “I-I’m fine, unnie. Just super tired for some reason.” She breathed out, her face getting warmer by the second as she felt like her feet were being held down by cement blocks.
Mira narrows her eyes at her, “Are you actually fine or are you just saying that?” She asks bluntly, crossing her arms. She didn’t want Zoey overworking herself.
“I.. I don’t know.” Zoey admits in defeat.
They cut practice short that day.
The combined sickness and fatigue that happened each day should’ve made the girls realize it was probably time for her to take a test, but that wasn’t the final nail in the coffin.
The real reason they decided she needed a test was when she snapped at them for every little thing, before falling into their arms sobbing.
Rumi could close the cupboard a little too hard, her patterns could radiate too much light, she could be chewing her food too loudly and Zoey would lose it. Then after, she would sob and have Rumi hold her, Rumi would be confused every single time.
It wasn’t until she did the same to Mira about her breathing a little too loud that they saw it was becoming a problem.
“Baby, we love you deeply. Of course we do. But for real, you need to tell us what’s going on.” Mira brought up gently, Zoey in the middle of the two girls in Mira’s bed. Usually Rumi occupied the middle, but for the last few nights Zoey had wanted to be there.
Zoey sniffles, not sure why she started crying for no reason yet again, but the girls didn’t judge her.
“I-I don’t know what’s wrong with me.. I can barely sleep, I feel sick all the time. I’m so so tired. I get mad at every little thing— I have headaches all the time too and I hate the smell of some foods for some reason.” She lists off,
Mira and Rumi look at each other before they look back at Zoey.
“Maybe.. you should take a pregnancy test? It seems like these are symptoms of that.” Rumi suggests, Zoey blinks.
“But.. I, we’re all girls.” She points out.
“Yes we are.” Mira says, “But, you know damn well Rumi grows a.. you know, every month instead of her period— that could be a possibility.” Mira reminds.
But surely growing a body part for a week every month didn’t change her entire body’s chemistry to make that possible.
Right?
Well, the girls were clearly wrong about everything they knew about demon anatomy (nothing) as they saw the two pink lines appear on the test.
“Shit.” Mira breathed out, her eyes wide as she stared at the test.
She looks over to Zoey and Rumi, trying to read if this was a happy moment or if this was a private clinic moment.
From what she could tell, they were mostly shocked.
Zoey stared at the test blankly, she was so, so happy.
But would Rumi be?
“Rumi.. I—“ Before Zoey could get a single world out, Rumi had wrapped her arms around her incredibly tight, trying her best not to crush her.
Rumi was shaking, she couldn’t believe it, Zoey was pregnant. Pregnant with her baby. Their baby. She didn’t know if this was a demon thing or a natural human thing, but she suddenly felt insanely protective of Zoey. She didn’t want anyone near her, besides Mira of course.
Her eyes watered as she hugged her still, staring at Mira who gave her a reassuring look back, not making a move towards the hug till Rumi signaled it was okay.
“I’m.. so happy.” Rumi chokes out, “W-We’re gonna be parents.. fuck we’re gonna have a baby. An actual living, breathing baby.” She says shakily, she felt like she was going to have a panic attack from all the emotions that were swirling inside her.
But she had to be there for Zoey during this time.
Rumi curls her finger towards Mira, Mira immediately leaning into the hug, wrapping her arms around Zoey and Rumi. “I’m so happy too, I was worried you guys wouldn’t be.” Mira says softly.
Mira presses a kiss to Zoey’s cheek, then one to Rumi’s forehead.
“We’re gonna take care of you, okay? You, and our baby.” Mira added, Rumi nodded simply, her words failing her at the moment.
So the journey began, it was definitely a challenge for the three to say the least.
They needed to figure out the legal side of things first, so they decided to push forward with getting married.
Yes, it was illegal to try and marry two people. So they would have to choose who was going to be on the marriage license.
They came up with a plan, since Rumi and Zoey were having their child, Zoey and Mira would get married legally, the three having a ceremony together regardless.
Rumi and Zoey would be on their child’s birth certificate, so Rumi would have parental rights despite not being married legally to Zoey, Mira would have rights as a ‘step’ parent.
If they were honest, it took them at least a week to figure that out. But, it worked for them.
As Zoey’s symptoms got worse, and she began to show, Rumi and Mira decided it would be best to go on hiatus until further notice. None of them wanted to, but they didn’t want anyone besides themselves, Bobby, Celine (at some point) and the doctors and nurses that would be taking care of Zoey to know anything about her condition.
Rumi and Mira made a plan, it was extensive, but it was going to come in handy for the following months.
A major part of the plan was meals, Zoey could barely eat certain things unless she was craving them. Of course the girls always gave into her cravings and whatever she wanted, she’d get.
But they also had to make sure she was staying healthy throughout the pregnancy.
Mira made sure to follow what Rumi had written down for meals, following recipes online until she was able to cook them from memory, but mostly Zoey enjoyed fruit.
Which made Mira happy she didn’t have to make so much food since she was constantly eating, but also worried about too much sugar— even if it was natural, too much is still bad right?
Nonetheless, they made sure she was properly fed and taken care of.
Rumi got worse as the months went on, getting more and more protective as each day passed.
She was usually able to keep her demon urges and features under control, keeping the patterns only on display for 99 percent of the time.
Nowadays the patterns were seen less as much as other features, thankfully Zoey and Mira didn’t mind it, since all the love was towards them and none of the aggression—
Rumi was skeptical about Derpy and Sussie at first even if she didn’t mean to be, but they kept Zoey company all the time now, Derpy following her to the bathroom even, standing behind her to nudge her gently as each day she began to waddle instead of walk.
Rumi had started making nests for them all to sleep in.
She naturally did them on the bed, without even realizing before she was done making a large nest shaped mess with pillows, blankets and hoodies. She was worried Zoey would be annoyed, but she welcomed it. Mira was more annoyed since they were trashing her bed but anything for her girls.
Rumi would barely get any sleep, the creatures on the floor and her wives curled into her arms, her golden eyes peering into the night from the door to their balcony, she didn’t feel sleep deprived in the mornings either. Her internal clock just couldn’t sleep if they were asleep, it didn’t allow her to.
One time she almost went too far, she almost took Bobby’s hand off.
The man had come by every single day when he found out the news, bringing takeout and baby items that began to stock pile.
“Bobby, you know you don’t need to do that.” Mira says as she was at at the edge of her bed, staring at Bobby who had just set down 4 bags of different kinds of pacifiers—
“I know I know but I’m going to be his uncle aren’t I?” He asks with a grin, “What makes you so sure it’s a boy?” Zoey asks as she was propped up on the headboard, hand on her stomach.
Rumi was right next to her, staring daggers at Bobby from across the room as her eyes weren’t brown like normal, they practically never were anymore these days.
Bobby walks closer to Zoey, not noticing Rumi’s low growl that emerged from her throat.
“Besides I get paid enough to buy as many baby items as you need—“ He says to Zoey, moving to place his palm against the top of her head.
Only to pull it away rapidly as Rumi lunged forward, her teeth very close to sinking into his wrist.
Mira stood up quickly, “Hey! Down.” She commands now, almost like she was a dog.
Rumi growls but does as told, Zoey not even seeming freaked out, even though she was just looming over her aggressively.
Bobby on the other hand looked like he was going to have a heart attack.
“What the hell Rumi?” He asks, on the verge of freaking out.
“She’s just really protective because of the whole demon side thing, you know this.” Zoey says to Bobby with an apologetic smile.
He just shakes his head and leaves the room, of course returning the next day with more stuff.
Rumi’s demon features were able to finally subside as they passed the 7 month mark, still fiercely protective, but no one else was allowed into the penthouse anymore besides her, Mira and the doctors.
Bobby understood this decision and just waited for his nephew (on his insistence) to be born.
Celine was only told during this time, not even bothering to come by, knowing Rumi probably wouldn’t want her around the baby due to her instincts, and other problems.
But that didn’t stop her from sending a gift basket filled with everything a newborn baby needed, as well as a letter stating she’s already started a trust fund.
Yeah, she was going to be a good grandmother.
~~~
Zoey got sick and tired of waiting for her girls to listen to her cries, it had been hours (10 minutes).
Rumi opens the door, a plate of sliced oranges in her left hand. “Hi baby, sorry we were trying to find a clean knife to cut these for you.” She apologizes as she walks over to the bed, making Derpy move gently so Zoey could sit up.
Mira was right by her side as she helped Zoey up in a sitting position, Zoey letting out a little ‘oof’ in the process.
“It’s okay, I’m just really upset I can’t move so much anymore. But it’ll all be worth it to meet them.” Zoey says as she takes the plate, placing it on her stomach as she begins to eat.
Rumi laughs, “You have your own built-in table though.” She comments.
Zoey’s face falls, “Are you calling me fat?” She asked, tears that weren’t present before now streaming down her face.
Mira’s eyes widen as she glares at Rumi.
‘Fix it!’ Her expression says as she moves closer to soothe Zoey,
“I-I— No! I didn’t mean it like— Zoey come on—“ Rumi stumbles over her words, she didn’t mean to make her cry.
Zoey kept crying, her whole body shaking.
Rumi felt horrible, she knew she didn’t mean it but she shouldn’t have said it.
“U-Uhm.. what if I give you kisses will that make you feel better?” Rumi asks quickly, Zoey pauses, only letting out a little sniffle as she nods.
Rumi wraps her arms around Zoey, squeezing a bit but not too hard as she presses her first kiss to her temple,
“I,” She starts, pressing another kiss to her forehead.
“Love.” Then to her nose.
“You.” She finishes and pecks her lips gently, resting her forehead against hers.
Zoey giggles, “Okay, I forgive you.” She says and squeezes Rumi back.
Mira looks at her phone, “It’s pretty late, and it’s supposed to start storming soon. Should we get some sleep before thunder starts rolling in?” She asks, knowing Zoey couldn’t sleep with it.
Zoey hums, “Yes.. but you have to give me kisses too.” She says, Rumi moving from the bed to turn the lights off.
Mira chuckles and lays down in the bed, propped up only by her elbow as she leans in to kiss Zoey deeply, causing Zoey to squirm as she wraps her arms around Mira’s neck, returning the kiss.
Mira holds herself up as she moves her hands to Zoey’s waist, pulling her closer as she presses her tongue to her lips, asking her silently for entrance.
Before Zoey could oblige, Rumi stops them.
“Hey, storm will start soon, we don’t want her not to be able to sleep—“ Rumi scolds, Mira groans and pulls away, still cuddling close to Zoey as they both lean back now.
Rumi claims her space in bed, wrapping her arms around the two now.
“I’m happy I can actually sleep nowadays, I used to be so worried that my body wouldn’t let me sleep.” Rumi mumbles, feeling her eyelids get heavy already.
“It’s only because you insisted on deadbolting the balcony and bedroom door.” Mira replies, sleep in her voice.
Zoey pats both their faces, “Shush, baby needs rest.” She says annoyed, they do as told and keep quiet.
~~~
Zoey woke up from a loud lightning strike, gasping as she shot up.
Rumi was also up quickly, despite being able to sleep now, she was still a light sleeper.
“Are you okay?” She asks quietly, noticing Mira was still asleep like a rock.
“Y-Yeah I’m okay..” She says, the silence stretching too much for Rumi’s liking.
“I’m hungry.” She blurts.
Rumi laughs, “Okay, want me to get you something from the kitchen?” She asks, pressing small kisses to her forehead now.
Zoey shakes her head, causing Rumi to look at her confused.
“I want fried chicken.” She says, “Babe.. it’s 2 am.” Rumi tries to justify.
“What if we go get some in the morning?” She compromises, Zoey shakes her head.
”No, the kfc downtown is open 24/7.” Zoey says, Rumi of course knew this. But, did she really have to take a twenty minute walk to get some chicken?
“Babe, I know but—“ Rumi stops as she sees her eyes water in the dark with her night vision.
“Okay, okay I’ll go.” She says, defeated.
Zoey smiles now, “Thank you baby, Mira will keep me safe don’t worry.” Zoey says, Rumi shakes her head.
“No, I’m not going out there by myself. Derpy will keep you safe.” She says, knowing she could count on him to do so.
Zoey nods without argument, "Okay baby, I just need help to the couch so I can watch tv while I wait.” Zoey added.
Rumi gets up and stretches, snapping her fingers, Derpy tilts his head up at her from the floor.
“Wake Mira up,” She commands. He got up slowly, walking over to Mira’s side now and stared at her blankly for a few seconds before he began to lap at her face.
“Wh-What— ah fuck—“ Mira says as she flinches back hard, covering her face with her hands as she spat.
“You g-got it in my mouth!” She growls, Derpy tilting his head in response.
“Get up babe, we gotta go get Zoey some fried chicken.” Rumi says, hooking her arms under Zoey’s back and legs, lifting her up with ease off the bed.
“Alright, I’m getting up.” Mira doesn’t argue as she starts to slip socks and shoes on.
Rumi takes Zoey to the couch slowly, sitting her upright and moving to turn the small light on, a gentle glow filling the room.
“We will be back soon, don’t open the door for anyone.” Rumi says sternly, slipping her shoes on now.
“I couldn’t even if I wanted to, I can barely walk to the bathroom and back.” Zoey points out.
Derpy leaves the room, Sussie still asleep on his head, a blanket hanging from his mouth as he gives it to Zoey, laying down right next to her now.
Mira was ready, having a hoodie and umbrella now.
“Alright, let’s go.” Mira says, kissing Zoey’s cheek and placing a hand on her stomach quickly before going to wait by the elevator for Rumi.
“We will be back,” Rumi repeats, kissing Zoey’s cheek as well and then her stomach.
“Be safe, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” Zoey says as she turns the tv on to watch a sea life documentary.
~~~
“Fuck it’s cold.” Mira shivers, Rumi holding the umbrella for both of them as they got to the door of the restaurant.
Rumi opens the door for Mira, then lets herself slip inside as she closes the umbrella.
“I know, but it’s for Zoey and our baby.” Rumi reminds, despite her hands feeling like they were going to fall off.
They get to the counter and order, Rumi asking for a family meal and sides.
Mira raises an eyebrow, “Why are you getting so much?” She asks genuinely.
“Because you know how Zoey is, if we don’t eat with her she’ll think we hate her and call herself fat and cry and I can’t stand to see her cry anymore.” Rumi says as she pays for the food.
Mira nods, “You’re right, anything for her.” She says seriously as they move to sit at a vacant table, no one was really there at the moment besides a few workers.
Rumi and Mira sat in a comfortable silence for a few moments, Rumi’s hand finding Mira’s on the table, running her thumb over her knuckles.
“Hey, I just want you to know.. you’ve been so good since this whole thing started, I know I’ve been acting a bit more protective of Zoey, I promise I’m not trying to leave you out.” Rumi says suddenly.
“It’s just my instincts want to protect her and keep our baby safe, I’d do the same if it was you pregnant.” She promises, Mira squeezes her hand.
“Baby.” Mira breathes out, “You haven’t made me feel left out at all, honestly I’m surprised because I know those demon things are hard to ignore. But, you’re stronger than to let it dictate certain things, you know?” She asks softly.
“I expected to be neglected during the pregnancy, I accepted it even. But, you haven’t made me feel less at all. Neither has Zoey, I actually feel like I had a part in making the baby.” She jokes.
Rumi laughs, “I mean, technically you did.” She smirks, Mira rolls her eyes.
“Alright, calm down tiger we’re in public.” Mira reminds but smiles.
“What I’m saying is, I hope you don’t think we want you to be any less part of the baby’s life.” Rumi added, “Because, you’re going to be their mom whether you want to or not.”
“I know, and when that kid ends up saying they hate us in 15 years because we’re strict parents for not letting them see their delinquent partner, I’ll remember back to this.” Mira blurts, causing Rumi to burst out laughing.
“But seriously, they can’t date till they’re 30.” Rumi says.
“Agreed.” Mira nods.
“Order for Ryu!” The man at the counter calls out.
“Alright, let’s get going.”
~~~
Zoey presses her pointer finger to Derpy’s nose gently, “You are just a big baby aren’t you? With your little mean bird friend.” She giggles, Sussie stirring in their sleep.
Derpy stares at Zoey, but instead of a usual blank stare it was almost like it had affection behind it.
“You’re gonna be the best big brother aren’t you?” She asks and presses a loud kiss to his nose, perking up as she hears the elevator.
“Yay!” She shouts and claps her hands together, feeling her baby move slightly in her stomach.
“Yeah, your mommies bought you some food. They’re going to shower you with nothing but love when you’re out, they’ve already been doing that though huh?” She coos.
The elevator opens, Mira and Rumi walking in with two bags of food.
“We got the package.” Mira says, smiling as she places everything on the counter, grabbing paper plates and sitting down to take the food out of the bags.
Rumi walks over to Zoey, “Come here baby.” She says, leaning forward to let Zoey wrap her arms around her neck and her legs around her waist, holding onto her like a koala.
“We got everything you asked for,” Rumi says as she walks to the counter with Zoey, placing her down on a chair next to Mira, “Even the extra gravy you kept texting me about.” She added.
“Well I had to make sure you remembered!” Zoey says, her mouth watering from the smell and sight, but she patiently waited for Mira to serve all three of them.
Rumi sat across from Zoey, next to Mira as she groaned. “My body is so exhausted for some reason.”
“Yeah you’ve been running off of fumes, of course.” Mira says as she finishes serving all their plates.
Zoey starts eating immediately, Mira and Rumi being only a tad bit slower but they had to admit, this was exactly what they needed.
“Thank you.” Zoey says suddenly, causing the girls to look at her.
“I know I haven’t been the easiest to deal with these past months.. I don’t mean to, I promise, I just don’t know how to control it.” She says quietly, trying not to cry again.
Mira places a hand on her knee, “Hey, it’s completely okay.” Mira says sweetly, a soft look on her face.
Rumi reaches her arm over to grab Zoey’s hand on the table, “Yeah, baby. It’s completely okay. Zoey,” She squeezes her hand. “You are growing life inside of you, no one expects you to act like you normally do. Hell, I would be more concerned if you were acting like your usual self all the time.” Rumi admits.
“Yeah, we’re here for you Zoey. I mean, we walked 40 minutes in total in a storm to bring you food.” Mira points out.
Zoey laughs, “Yeah, you’re right. I’m just worried I’m asking too much.” Zoey says, “I don’t want to be a burden.” She added.
“You are farthest from that, we are happy to do it. If you asked either of us to jump off the roof we would.” Rumi blurts, Mira nodding in agreement.
“Well I don’t want you to do that!” Zoey scolds, “I know I know, I’m just saying.” Rumi giggles.
Zoey smiles, sighing in content. “I love you both, so much.” She says as she looks at the two.
“We love you too.” Mira says, “So much.” Rumi added.
“Now, let’s finish this so we can pass out. I am exhausted.” Mira says, earning another laugh from the two girls.
Everything will be fine as long as they have each other.
