Stjärngosse

Summary:

Moments between 11 year old Tommy and Freppa around Lucia.

A prequel to Forgotten Angel taking place before Tommy forgets.

Notes:

Guess who finished writing this today? In my defence I was having a bit of trouble with the ending.
Somehow it was more painful for me to write this one than Forgotten Angel. I think that it’s because I always knew that Forgotten Angel would have a good ending just like I knew while writing this fic that no matter how happy the ending is, the events leading up to Forgotten Angel are yet to happen.
There’s one minor detail I had in mind, but didn’t know how to include in the fic, so I thought I could share it here instead. I imagined Tommy hitting his growth spurt earlier than Freppa, so he is slightly taller when this fic takes place.

Work Text:

Fredrik reads the same line again, but just like before he can’t make out what it says, thoughts about Lucia occupying his mind too much. The thoughts only stop when he feels a kiss on his cheek.

“Are you okay?” The boy beside him on the bed asks.

“You’ve been stuck on the same page for longer than I am when I’m tired.”

“I’m nervous. What if I mess up on Monday?”

“You won’t. What will happen is that everyone will be amazed by your voice when you sing.”

“You too?”

“Nah, you spoil me so much with your singing that I already know how amazing your voice is by heart and there’s no way I’ll forget it.”

Fredrik can concentrate on reading after that, becoming engrossed in the story until he notices how Tommy has started struggling.

“Wanna do something else?” He asks while putting his bookmark in the book.

“Sorry.” Tommy says as he puts his bookmark in his book.

“Why are you apologising? I’m here to spend time with you, the book can wait until I’m home.” Fredrik says he takes Tommy’s book and puts away both books. After that he hugs Tommy before laying down on the bed, taking the other boy with him.

“Yeah, this is much better.”

Fredrik is surprised when Tommy turns up at his house on Monday morning. He had warned him that they couldn't go to school together like normal because he had to be there early to get ready for the Lucia celebration, yet there the other boy was, smiling brightly at him.

“Sorry if I'm early, I didn't know what time you need to leave.” Tommy explains and Fredrik is filled with the urge to kiss his soulmate, so he does. When they separate Tommy is smiling even brighter.

“Definitely worth waking up earlier.” The comment makes Fredrik laugh and he kisses the other again.

They walk to school hand in hand, talking about what they're going to do in the evening as Tommy is staying over. When they arrive Tommy gives Fredrik a good luck kiss before they part ways and with it the last nervousness Fredrik was feeling goes away.

His performance goes great and when Fredrik rejoins his class during lunch Tommy doesn't waste any time before he starts talking about it, barely stopping to eat. Fredrik just listens, liking how Tommy's words create a melody that beats any song that's played on the radio.

While the topic has changed by the time the school day has ended and they're walking towards Fredrik's house hand in hand, Tommy is still talking and Fredrik can't help but be absorbed in the other's words.

“Are you okay? You’re zoning out.” Tommy asks after a while.

“Don't worry, I was just listening to you.”

“Oh. Does it ever get boring?”

“No, I think you could make the most boring thing in the world sound interesting.” Fredrik admits, feeling his cheeks heat up despite the cold weather.

When Marlene comes home she finds the two eleven year olds asleep in Fredrik's bed, hugging each other. She quickly grabs her camera and takes a picture of the two, saving the moment forever.

Notes:

So, some time ago I came up with an idea for a fic where in one of its endings(it has 2) all of KAJ have children born the same year. To think at least two of them actually will have children born the same year is quite amazing.(no pressure Jakob)
