"Määnin?"
Freppa sounded happy to hear from him, but also a little confused because Määnin never really called him like this, out of nowhere.
"What made you call? We don't have band practice until tomorrow."
"Have you heard?"
Määnin pushed out the words while holding onto his phone a little tighter so he wouldn't drop it. When Freppa spoke again after a short silence, he was even more baffled.
"Heard..? Have I heard what?"
Määnin groaned. He just didn't get it. Under normal circumstances he was willing to deal with Freppa's occasional cluenessness, but not now. Not when Tommy's life was possibly in danger.
"The car crash! This one guy just told me about it. I saw the photos. And the car."
Määnin was almost able to hear the crickets as Freppa tried to piece all this information together.

Summary
Tommy didn’t have a family, not really. He used to, when he was younger, but that was all gone now. Now it was just him, Tommy vs the world. It was fine, it’s not like he needed a family anyway. He was going to be a rockabilly legend, a rock star. Rock stars didn’t need family; they needed music, alcohol and screaming fans, and Tommy would make sure he got plenty of that.
But maybe he wasn't as lonely as he thought, maybe the people still in his life could be his family, if he let them.
