Summary
Prologue: The secrets of the Playtime Company are deep-seated in the earth. Experimentations, torture, coercion and murder were everyday occurrences. It took the Hour of Joy to end one horror and replace it with another. Death became the only true Salvation, the only true Freedom. But they say sometimes a place so rooted in darkness, fear and pain can bring the attention of greater forces to it; and something out there in the universe decided a long time ago that second chances at a good life was well deserved.
Summary: When DogDay died after being taken over by the mini-Critters, he thought that was the end. But he was surprised when he opened his eyes again to a new world, so familiar to the one he was trapped in, but also so much freer and safer. It's a world where the children of Playtime Co were given a second chance to live, without the tortures of their previous lives. As more characters join their new world, tendrils from the old one reaches in and threatens to destroy their lives once more. It is up for the tortured souls of Playtime to make another stand against the forces that threaten their happiness and peace.

“I don’t believe you for a second,” the villager said with a scoff. “Reviving the dead? You, a god? That’s the most preposterous thing I’ve heard in all my years.”
“Oh? You don’t believe me?” Dream smiled. “That’s okay, I’m more than willing to give you all a demonstration. Tommy,” he called, gesturing to the blond.
Tommy knew exactly what was going to happen, and he knew that there was no point in resisting, for it’d be over quicker if he gave up and went along with it (and if he struggled he’d really just be making a fool of himself). So he walked over to Dream, quietly, obediently, and stood facing the crowd. At least his death would be quick this time, he thought, as he shut his eyes and felt the cool of metal against his neck. One slash, and the world went dark.
Or: Tommy didn’t originally plan to hit the water when he jumped off the tower in Logsted, so he hit the ground instead. Dream decides that’s as good a time as any to test out the revival book, and upon succeeding, decides he’s a god and it’s high time he gained some followers.

Will was happy.
Truly happy, maybe for the first time in a way that didn’t feel fragile.
Vecna was gone. Not sealed away, not weakened, not waiting, gone. His mom had made sure of that, swinging the axe like she’d been born for it, ending the nightmare with one final, brutal strike. Hawkins still stood. The Upside Down was quiet. Everyone he loved was alive, bruised, exhausted, laughing through tears, but here. And for once, they saw him. All of him. No flinching. No pity. No pretending.
The ache that used to be Mike was still there, dull but fading, like an old scar that only hurt when he pressed on it too hard. He was learning how to let it go. Learning how to breathe without waiting for something to be taken from him.
The truck rumbled beneath him as it carried them home, wind whipping through the open back, the night air cold and clean. Will leaned against the metal wall and closed his eyes. Nothing was chasing him anymore. Nothing was watching. Nothing could hurt them now.
So why did the hairs on the back of his neck rise?
