One thing these two have in common, is their suicidal thoughts and self-inflicted harm problems. After an attempt, Amy opens up to Jake and he comforts her and shares his situation to let her know she isn't alone.

“Get that crap out of your mouth, it’s gonna stink up the whole apartment!” He tried to snatch the cigarette from Nam-gyu’s hand.
“Why should I?” Nam-gyu grabbed his wrist and pushed him away.
“Because we’re grown-ass men. You could stop acting like a child. I didn’t mean it.”

Jack's mental heath has declined even more rapidly, even chugging more pills when he isn't time yet, and is more emotional and angry, even though that's how it's always been. Andrew was the only person who saw right through Jack and wanted to help him, but psychically couldn't deny the offer he got for Africa. Jack can't handle being stabbed in the back, making him hostile and paranoid.
