With all the compassion left in Amethio’s miserable heart, he politely warned Friede about the pokemon, to which the other man confidently responded,
“Don’t worry about it! I’m prepared for any opponent”
Now, as Amethio watches Friede’s Charizard plummet after getting caught up in the battle between Salamence and Garchomp, he’s beginning to wonder why he bothered in the first place.

This is a totally different type of bnha fic than I usually go for, and at first glance it's not really the Shouto/Izuku dynamic I prefer either, but the first point is what makes it so special and the second couldn't be further from the truth. While, yes, I love a confident pro-hero Deku, I know at his heart he will always be an earnest, slightly nervous hero-fanboy. And Shouto will always have more heart than anyone (aside from a trusted few) expect. And the soul of these characters really gets to shine in this story. The thought of a younger, civilian Izuku made me sad at first, but despite his confidence issues, his backbone and heroic heart still shine through. And while Shouto seems mature and confident (and he's certainly not UN-confident) he still strongly reflects the awkward high-schooler he was. He has no expectation of being loved, even when it's blatantly staring him in the face, which is sad in its own right. More subtle and melancholy than Izuku's self-esteem issues, but I'm a sucker for those nuanced, easy-to-miss emotions. In some ways they hit harder. In any case, these two come together and build each other up, just like in canon. The whole story is wonderful. Sweet and heartwarming, but also exhilarating! I was super excited for the story to progress, metaphorically on the edge of my seat to see how meeting All Might would go (knew from the start Todoroki would make it happen) as well as the gala and as soon as it hinted that bakugou might show up I was freaking out. And the follow-ups! I am and always will be weak for bnha chat fics and wow part three of this series is one of the best. I was dying of laughter through those three chapters. And it was nice to know my assumptions about how Shouto was handling this potential romance (not well, to put it mildly) were spot on. Honestly one of the best bnha fics I've read to date
