Summary
In the days following the bombastic reveal of the village vampires, Dr. Legs does his best to take care of the people he cares for, keep everyone in one piece, prepare for war, work on a cure, keep up his lie and at least try not to fly apart at the seams where anyone can see him. Summary
Scott Goldsmith was not a kind or empathetic person. Not in the slightest. But even he was not completely without emotional intelligence.
Just because he did not care for most people or feel remorse for the lives of humans he had slain doesn't mean he can't at least recognise another person’s feelings.
Sure, he most likely would never care for them, as what other people felt was never even close to his priorities or even interests. Even when he knows the emotions of another, he normally never would comfort or even acknowledge them.
But even he had a limit.Or
Scott noticed Owen's change in goals at the end of Episode 5, and instead of letting the vendetta rot, decides to talk to Owen. He puts his foot down and tries to hold the torn seams that hold their alliance together. Scott sits the vampire down for a talk, since NONE OF THE SHIT THAT HAS HAPPENED WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THESE BITCHES JUST LEARNED TO COMMUNICATE!!!

Scott is dead and his fledglings were all turned human. They all turned back except for a few kicking and screaming. Owen was turned back too. He's not taking to it like the Doctor thought he would. He's still pale. He's still hungry. But now he has no reason to keep going.
Scott is dead. Louis is dead. He lost the gift.
Yet a call from outside his window brings him hope. He hasn't felt hope since Scott died.Something goes wrong with the cure. Something the towns folk don't know how to help. Two of the ex-vampires are fine. The others... Well the others act like themselves but something is wrong. Owen in particular is a troubling case.

The Doctor's heart was pounding. Louis had not ever heard someone sound so afraid before, but Louis could not think of why. Could not think of the blood on Owen's front, the red staining his teeth as he hissed a deep guttural growl at the Doctor, pale and ill looking and trembling with leashed violence.
"Owen," Legundo said, still gingerly kneeling, holding both his hands up and releasing Louis to do so. Louis was too tired after his previous struggle to reach Owen, could not take advantage and go to his love like he wished, but he called instead. A high pleading chirp that had Legundo flinching, although he did not turn to stare at Louis like he had before. He, like Louis, was not taking his eyes off Owen.
Owen, who was across the room from them. Surely if this was a dream, Owen would come here, he would not leave Louis cold and alone and hurting.
"Owen, I am not hurting him, please—"
"You're not leaving this place alive, Doctor. You've made a mistake, coming here, you and Avid both."

Summary
The image of Louis seeing him off as he was dragged into the depths of hell is burned into Owen's mind. That alone - the knowledge that he's broken the heart of the only person he's met that was worth a damn - must have been considered enough of a torment that he got to skip the whole "tortured in the eternal inferno" thing.
Owen wakes up to find Oakhurst has been reset to the day he initially woke up from his nap. No blood has been spilled, no fires have been started - everyone is fresh on the land and completely unawares of the horrors that await them. To rub even more salt in the wound, Abolish's cure for vampirism followed him, and he was once more forced to live in his accursed human body.
Well, not that Owen cares, really. He's done his time. He's played this game once, and he couldn't even say he walked out satisfied. Let the humans and the vampires fight and kill each other - he's perfectly content to live out of sight and out of mind of those wretched people. He doesn't need their company, and it's not like anyone will notice or care if he's absent, besides.

“It cured it for you.” Owen realised.
“The power made me feel alive, I could be me.” He stared at the shadows that no longer welcomed him as one of their own, instead it felt like they were closing in on him, preying on his senses and infecting his body.
“I’m surprised you reverted back.” Owen said honestly. “I didn’t regain the disease on my skin after being cured.”
Scott glanced at him. “You said your skin was irritated.”
“Well yeah, but it’s nothing like what I dealt with before.” He said.]---

Summary
A gruesome battle breaks out between vampires and humans. At some point Scott falls, and every vampire is forcibly cured. Owen, as the next eldest, does not cure easy. He cannot walk, can barely speak, and he cannot break a fever. Worse is that he has to deal with 200 years of repressed emotions that he swapped easily for anger when he had all of eternity to deal with it. Eternity is not a promise anymore, it's a distant memory.

"My, you have been busy," Scott said, and Legundo did not look at Scott's eyes— shut them in fact, when Scott grabbed his chin and forced his face forward. He could smell that cold breath now, like a funeral parlor, and pulled away with a grimace, hand moving to his belt—
Scott snatched that up as well, and with a twist and a surge of inhuman strength, pressed Legundo flat to the table. His breath left him in a rush, and Scott laughed.
Scott was shorter than Legundo, and much lighter as well. The only thing keeping him planted on the ground was his own body weight, and Legundo had the advantage of leverage.
He still had a hand free. Legundo grabbed on to the collar of Scott's elegant coat, and put a knee into the vampire's stomach. He had the satisfaction of seeing surprise in Scott's eyes— before he was handily thrown clean off of Legundo, and over the far side of the table.
He would not get the element of surprise again.
(Or; Legundo gets bit by EVERY Vampire at some point or another, for varying reasons.)
