He stumbles out, heaving in breaths as he takes in the scene, brain working furiously to compensate for the terror thrumming in his veins and the pounding of his head.

Life in the Golden Cheese Kingdom is much different than the spire, and there are some major differences between the Beast and the Ancient. Can Sun and Shadow get along?

There’s the sound of a tail thumping against the sand. By some depravity still lingering in his bones, the ache in Firebrand’s body burns at the thought of seeing them disappear once again into that dark tunnel. Hurts him enough to grit teeth. Firebrand, desperate to not want them to leave, lets a pitiful noise from his mouth that he wouldn’t have allowed otherwise.
He croons. Hears the rumble echo throughout the cave, of all things loud enough to make them pause in their step. It’s a far cry from his usual growl— all too desperate and warm to resemble an awfully content hum. Katana freezes in the doorway. An arm rests on the hilt of his sword, unmoving but not untensing either. Where Katana’s sole back gives no hint of a reaction, Medkit fills any details of thought with the way his eye is widened into a dotted pupil. There’s the slow turning of the teal demon’s head.
“..Is there something we missed?” Katana murmurs.
Or, wasting away in the depths of Lost Temple, Firebrand is disgraced and most of all .. sick.

Summary
Back when the Virtues were falling and transforming into beats, Shadow Milk found himself plagued with a deep sense of loniness. All his former friends, the beasts, were slipping away from him and their motley crew was falling to pieces.
He couldn't stand idly by and let that happen so he decided the best way to bring them all back together was to introduce a few bundles of baby dough into their lives, making them come together as one big twisted family.
The mixture was prepared and the oven was heated but Shadow Milk never got a chance to bake their sons and daughters thanks to the machinations of Silent Salt and Dark Enchantress Cookie, leaving his plans and his family lost to time.
Until those very same children resurface countless years later, totally unaware of their origins. Fortunately their uncle Shadow Milk, recently freed from the prison of the Silver Tree, is more than happy to arrange a few family reunions!

..there were hands. Cupping the sides of his cheeks. They were so unbelievably warm—like they were the sole blanket that was keeping him safe when everything else did the opposite. An explosion of bliss he had never been able to experience inside this hell, caused by such a simple gesture.
It promised him that he could have that. Noob could have him and that warmth, all to himself.
The hands withdrew themselves. He was back inside the cabin. He felt that same chill seeping into his body that the cabin always knew how to provide.
Noob had a new goal in mind with 7n7.
