Once it had passed, Saiki gave his son a once-over, checking for any injuries or discomfort. There was nothing. Kusei looked at him with bleary eyes, and now that he was securely in his father's arms, went promptly back to sleep.
Saiki deadpanned internally. He had almost pulverised the plane. Good grief. Better not think about that for now.

Just then, though, the pain in the psychic's head intensified ten-fold, in the way he knew all too well: he was getting a premonition. Images spilled into his mind for a good minute or two, showing him his friends suffering sleepless nights, failed attempts at studying, collapsing in the halls once again (even Hairo), and low exam results. It was shocking to see, and therefore worrying. He knew those companions of his needed to do better than that, because the results of that one set of tests they only did once would determine what they'd be 'allowed' to do for the rest of their lives…
Saiki got a premonition and he had to make a change to how the winter holidays worked in Japan. Everyone rejoiced! However, this resulted in a Christmas party at Saiko Land, and he had to go because the Room of Sweets was there.
Predictably, things would go wrong. A party-crasher would arrive at the worst possible moment, planting the seeds that would uproot everyone's lives and bring about his own downfall. The story that has yet to be named begins here.

Maomao scrubbed at her eyes. Her head hurt, but she soon realized it wasn’t because of the dream she was having; her phone was ringing, and not just anyone was calling her. Jinshi’s distinctive ringtone blared from her bedside table, and she groped around in the dark for it before answering.
“‘Lo?” she mumbled. “What’s up?”
Nothing. Maomao might’ve thought that she caught Jinshi’s quiet breathing on the other end of the line, but she might’ve been hallucinating it.
She sat up, checking the clock beside her bed. “Jinshi?” she ventured. “Are you okay? Why are you calling me at one in the morning, hmm?”
“Couldn’t sleep,” was Jinshi’s response. “Did I wake you? I’m sorry.”
