Summary
Ed’s a retired enforcer for Spanish Jackie that can’t seem to shake his old life. Stede is the heir to Bonnet Group, whose father will do pretty much anything to keep that legacy alive. They meet, as most do, completely by accident and when they need each other the most.

Summary
Ed couldn't say he was surprised when he and Stede were unceremoniously dumped in the sand on an uninhabited spit of an island, just as he wasn't particularly surprised when Stede's crew had jumped them in their sleep and tied them up in ropes.
And now it seemed like the crew's loyalties to both men had worn thin, deciding to rid themselves of either of them rather than live with them both.
Fair enough. He was sure sailing under their command had become insufferable.

In which Ed and Stede haven't stopped bickering since Stede returned to the Revenge, so the crew dumps them on an island until they can kiss and make up.

Summary
There was a man having a breakdown in the middle of the canned goods aisle.
At any other time, Ed would’ve just backed slowly away with his trolley and completed the rest of his shopping, leaving the guy to his own devices, only returning once the coast was clear to pick up what he needed. Except that he had done that, three times in fact, and now was aware he was circling the soup, UHT milk, and coffee aisle like a forgetful shark.
Modern au where Ed, a famous chef, offers to help a stranger cook a meal. Look, in his defence, the guy was cute, ok?

Summary
Stede stands beside him under the phallic town side and inhales a lung full of seaweed and salt. He has a shine in his eye Lucius recognizes from exactly two past occasions: the day Stede hired him, and the day Stede decided to implode his life, and Lucius’ right along with it.
‘Well, I think this is quite quaint!’ He says, the vest of his suit folded over his arm, mud on his Valentino loafers. His smile is genuine, blond hair catching in the faint sea breeze wafting in from the beach. Lucius is too stunned to speak. He shoves the books at Stede and hefts his bags onto his shoulders, turning on his heel to follow the winding gravel road into town.
‘Remind me to quit once we reach civilization.’
‘Oh come on,’ Stede hurries to catch up, juggling the books to grab his suitcases, ‘it’s not that bad!’
‘Stede,’ Lucius turns about-face, ‘there’s a dick on the town sign.’
Or
Stede Bonnet leaves his wife and children during a spot of midlife crisis, and decides to try being a lonely lighthouse keeper in the seaside town of Revenge. Local owner of the town’s *best* dive bar, the Kraken, Edward Teach, has a few things to say about the new arrival. As do the motley crew of fishermen who live nearby.

Summary
The cat starts out as a stowaway. It then becomes a contributing member of the ship - an employee, if you will. (Not a pet, despite what some people say. And definitely not an omen, despite what some other people say.) It eventually becomes a sort of… mascot. That’s all. Certainly not, say, some sort of replacement for Stede. And obviously not, in any way, shape or form, a reincarnation of Stede. Because that would be crazy.
…The cat may or may not be a metaphor.
(Spoiler alert: the cat is a bit of a metaphor. But also an actual cat.)

Stede Bonnet had every intention of meeting Edward Teach, just perhaps not quite like this. And Ed, he had really believed the man he'd only known as the Gentleman Pirate really had taken one look at him and decided he wasn't worth his time. It takes some time for the pair to realize who each other are, but once they do, there's nothing either of them want more than to find a way to reunite Stede's... whatever it is back with his body.
Well, Ed can think of one thing he'd want in addition to that: for Stede to remember who he is when they succeed.

"Was there anything that Stede Bonnet couldn't do? He gave importance to everything. Made everything meaningful. Made life less dull.
And again Ed thought that this was the way life ought to be: stars above him, ocean below him, Stede beside him. His guide, his freedom, and his heart. What more could a man need?
At a certain point, Ed stopped looking to the sky, shifting to watch Stede with wonderment instead, rapt in the passionate way he wove his tales, painting the sky into a storied mural. And Ed thought he would be content to be this way with him forever. Even though the dinghy was too small to lay comfortably in, and the hard wood hurt his back, and he really would have killed for a pillow that wasn't a lumpy sack of oranges."
