Summary
Erwin’s breath was ragged, wet, and desperate.
His hands covered the muscled caps of Levi’s shoulders entirely, fingertips squeezing into flesh as a direct measure of his panic.
There wasn’t any room left behind Levi. He hit the wall. Erwin didn’t stop. He crushed Levi flat, his breath condensing hot on his cheek, the one that wasn’t squished against the old wallpaper. The top ridge of the wall molding pressed into Levi’s lower back, and another thing pressed into his thigh when Erwin jerked his leg uncontrollably.
Something way too big.
Erwin lazily eyed Levi’s collarbone, distraught somewhere deep beneath the haze.
“You’re the only one that can know about this.”

Light pours in behind him: his silhouette standing there on the threshold of his own home like a vampire awaiting an invitation. She almost laughs at the sight. The man who cut the Devil to pieces is scared to follow after a woman with a chip on her shoulder? How far they’ve both fallen.
“It’s your house,” she points out.
Permission to enter. He does even though it’s not hers to give. It’s only a few steps, of course. Can’t break the rule. Five feet. Always five feet apart. The door closes.
She wants to break something. An old habit’s under heavy consideration.
