Goro grits his teeth and grabs for his pillow, rolling onto his back and shoving it under his head. He can't sleep, body too flooded with adrenaline and mind too full of brainless, sentimental thought. He could go back to the Metaverse and let loose, really let loose, call on Loki to break his chains and let the bodies fly. There's a certain appeal to the thought in the way one considers a kitchen knife and all of its broad applications: intrusive, nauseating, unwanted, but fascinating all the same. The same way a traffic accident is fascinating: you can't help gaping in horrified awe at the spectacle and the promise of mangled corpses.
His shirt is riding up his stomach. Goro runs cold fingertips along the cinched waistband of his jersey pants and the exposed skin above it and shivers.

Goro can be slippery as a shadow if need be; he lifts up the covers and slides in beside Akira with almost no sound. When you sleep alone there's always that moment of being just in bed with your cold sheets cocooning you where you shiver and you shiver and you freeze, but Akira takes up half the bed and Goro can nestle up against him and let the warmth radiating off of him soak into his bones.

He doesn’t look to see if Akechi stays; he can hear that Akechi stays, because the door doesn’t open and the bell doesn’t ring. Akira goes behind the bar to grab a canister off the shelves on the wall and make them both coffee. It’s comforting to not have to think about what he’s doing, to let his body move on autopilot. He’s thinking too much as it is. He’s trying not to think. Every time he realizes he’s not thinking, his brain kicks back up again.
